A Brief History of Mac_n_Stuff
Official eBay Time: Nov-21-09 03:53:10 PST
I've been using Marsha Collier's "eBay for Dummy's" book as a reference since I began selling on eBay. She recommends that every seller have an "About Me" page.
Marsha's premise is that eBay customers will think more of a seller that cares enough to create an "About Me" page. Personally, I've very rarely looked at another Seller's "About Me" page, but Marsha's had some pretty good advice, so I figured I'd give this a whirl. Plus I get a neat little icon by my eBay member name. More icons has to be a good thing.

Now the about me part, I'm an engineer and single father of three lovely daughters. We live in Wilmington Delaware with our dog, Annie. I've been an eBay member for a couple of years, and got into selling items on eBay about a year ago.
I've been an enthusiastic Mac user since about 1989. Before becoming a Mac user, I began my PC using days on an IBM XT. I was quite good at
DOS, but the Mac interface just blew me away. People used to joke,
"Isn't it hard to use a computer with that little display?" My response
was always, "Nope." Because the cool thing about the Mac (even back in
the SE days) was WYSIWYG. Whatever was displayed on screen was what it
looked like when I printed it out; not so with the old IBM (this is
before Windows really even was worth looking at, let alone a useful
OS). So since then I've used Macs at home and never looked back. I rue
the day that I ever have to purchase a Wintel machine for my home. I do
have to admit, due to my work as an engineer, I've had to maintain my
skills on Windows. So I'm also fairly savvy on Wintel machines, but
that's only because that little company in Redmond has an monopoly on
99% of the worldwide computer market's operating system.
I began my eBay membership with the simple purchase of an ethernet card
for an older Mac of mine. I had so much fun with the bidding
experience, that I continued to search for old Mac parts and other
things I needed. After a time, I decided to sell an item that I no
longer had any use for, and amazingly it sold in just a few days.
Buoyed by my success, I decided to continue listing and selling Mac
parts and mainly other old electronic devices I had around the house.
Through my many forays into the eBay community I began to collect an inventory of older Macintosh equipment. I would buy from auctions where the seller's description went something like, " I've got these mac parts not sure what they are or what they do . . ." I got quite a few good deals on some good equipment, and started to sell items that I had no use for.
From those humble little beginnings, I expanded my operation and opened up an eBay store, Mac-n-Shoppe, and now I am trying to become a successful eBay entrepreneur. Now I work like crazy and don't make much money. I guess I'm in the, "puttin in my dues" phase of the business.
Now let's wrap this baby up . . . in a nut-shell, I am a Mac enthusiast (not to be confused with fanatic) who sells mainly stuff for the Macintosh computer family. I also sell other electronic devices that I happen to procure along the way, and, yes, I occasionally sell parts for the Wintel crowd (got to get it out of the house so it doesn't desecrate my home).
Now for the clincher, I only sell used items that I have been able to test myself. I rarely sell items that haven't been test and verify that they work. In the rare occasion that I have sold untested parts, I've made it very clear in my listing that it's untested. My goal is to sell quality items and get them shipped to my eBuyer's as promptly as possible. If you take a look at my eBay feedback, you'll see that I've been fairly successful at meeting my goal.
Now that you know a little more about me, go out there and bid on some of my auctions! Now you can think of buying stuff from an old friend rather than a complete and total stranger. Of course, you want to get a good deal when you buy something from your friend, but you don't want to screw your friend over. And as a friend, I want to give you a good deal, so take a look my eBay auctions for a fair price on quality merchandise. After your purchase, I'll come through just like an old friend and make sure you get your purchase promptly and carefully packaged, so it doesn't get broken en-route to you.
Hope you enjoyed this little missive as much as I have enjoyed writing it. From time to time, I'll probably come back here and update my information. So you might want to check back every once in a while. Cheers
