Do you ever think about where your cars go when their lives are through?  I am sure they go to car heaven; also known as the Junkyard.  Bring a little car heaven into your home, office or garage with an art print, T-shirt or special gift  by the William B. MacGregor Jr., the Junkyard Artist.

The son and grandson of Norfolk Hunt kennel masters, who were well-known
woodcarvers and artists, William B. Mac Gregor Jr. was born in Medfield MA in 1947.  His
love affair with cars began in 1964 when he bought his first car, a rusted green 1948 Dodge
convertible and one of his cars is a 1939 Ford Station Wagon that he has owned since
1972.  Bill is a graduate of Medfield High School, Wentworth Institute, Northeastern
University, and McIntosh College.  He spent many years working as a mechanical engineer
in high technology laboratories, and as a drafting consultant for a major Boston television
station.  Bill now spends his time as an artist in the junkyards.  Originals and Prints of his
watercolors are now part of Private Collections all over the United States, England, Israel,
   Jamaica, and New Zealand.

Bill started his career as a Civil draftsman and learned from a master the old fashion technique of inking.  This involved the use of ruling pens, reservoir Leroy pens and inking onto linen cloth.  These were used for land court documents and if you make one mistake the linen cloth document is destroyed.   Afterwards, Bill worked for MIT/Center for Space Research and worked as a graphic artist and draftsman.   Even though, Bill career the transitioned into management with a military optics company, his drafting and ink skills were used evening and weekends for 25 years at a major television station WCVB-TV Channel 5, and other television stations.

A few years ago, the urge to paint after being dormant for many years came back to reality, and maybe, it was the faith of my ancestors, especially my grandfather, who was famous for his realistic painted carvings of hounds, horses, and members of the Norfolk Hunt Club. My Grandfather brother was a well-known oil painter in the New Jersey area, and my father was a painter and woodcarver.

The technique utilized is to incorporate the old fashion technique of inking the drawing and then complete it utilizing watercolors.  In addition, acrylics and pastels are utilized to enhance the images and sometimes the watercolors will be utilized right out of the tube similar to oils.  My love of cars is heavily involved with my watercolors and many incorporate the use of junkyards.
