Hello and Welcome to D'Court Designs,

My name is Mike DeRegnaucourt.  D'Court Designs was born out of my passion for working with my hands and creating one-of-a-kind functional pieces of artwork.  My wife Kathy helps in running D'Court Designs on a day-to-day basis.  Without Kathy's help with picture taking, setting up the listings, and shipping, I would be lost.  (Thank you Kathy for all your help and hard work...you are the Best!)

My primary background is in software and database engineering.  However, I have always had this overwhelming desire to work with my hands.  I have always loved working with tangible items unlike in database and software engineering where you are constantly working with intangible items.  I think this desire stems back to when I was a child.  I always wanted to be right there with my Dad when he was fixing something.  I wanted to know how things worked.  I would often get into my Dad's tools and his box of scrap wood and try building different things.

After setting up my own workshop, I often found myself reliving those childhood memories of creating something with my own two hands.  I've since made furniture, cabinets, different types of gifts, and various commission work.  Once I received my first lathe as a gift from my parents, I was immediately hooked on woodturning.  There is just something incredible about taking a block of wood, or whatever the material might be, and watching it transform into something beautiful right before your eyes.  It is such a creative outlet being able to apply my skills and talent that keeps me coming back time after time.  It gives me such pride and joy being able to share my creations with others.
