Back to previous page  Something about nothing... One of my first Ebay sales...From the J. Peterman Collection - The L.A. Confidential Gown ...Though I haven't traveled very much, I've been lucky to be exposed to extremes in cultural diversity.   My Dad was from Italy, making me a first generation American. My Grandfather was an expert at carving marble. In fact, my families claim to fame is that he was in charge of and completed most of the carving of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  My father continued the family talent also carving for the same company, and  even after becoming blind, was known in the area for his work. He gave me a taste for anything classical in the form of Art and Music. In his way he taught me to appreciate form, line and color that you see in your everyday life and take for granted.   My Mother was a real country girl. She came from a huge family. She taught me the qualities to appreciate that almost anything can be beautiful if cared for in the right way. Among her many qualities is her inquisitive nature and natural sense of taste.   Believe me, I have some of the best and worst qualities the combination of the two families could give me. And, believe it or not, this is how I come to EBay.    Another listing I spent days researching - "Madonna of Sorrow" I have stuff. Lots and Lots of stuff...   I care for my belongings well and have accumulated so many memories in the form of material belongings, I actually had a building constructed on family land to house  my storage and to be used as a studio/office for myself.   About the same time I was working for the J. Peterman Company. You might know them through the character portrayed on "Seinfeld", the small company was in fact real. The store was filled with unique and unusual treasures from Mr. Peterman's interests and travels. The assortment within the store included antiques, movie memorabilia, fine clothing and jewelry, books and imports. Each item had a story and the catalogs are still appreciated for their entertainment value.   In December of 2000, the company liquidated. I loved my job, and loved my surroundings. I stayed at the Manchester Vermont Store till the very end. And bought everything my American Express card could carry. Luckily, that storage building came to good use. Shortly after, I inherited my Great Aunt Lillian's' estate, filled with antiques and memories. She was amazing to me always.   I have chosen to sell these memories on EBay merely because keeping them selfishly in storage isn't where they should be. I realize that each time I research and study an item to describe in a listing, I am being left with much more... I feel that I'm embedding a memory, appreciating its' value and beauty more, and sharing it with someone else who desires the item in some way.
