I have been a long standing eBay participant. My primary focus is on classic
Avalon Hill Games, Victory Games, MMP games for my private collection. I have
been rebuilding my collection for years since an unfortunate circumstance had me
lose over 95% of my collection. It's been a long process but fun. I have an
extensive list of titles both familiar and rare, yet I am always looking for
others. Having played and handled many titles through my years I have seen some
interesting things come thru eBay. Let me bring some potential sellers to
notice.
I know of the shrink-wrap scam. That's taking copies of games that are
in near mint condition, re-shrink-wrapping the game and passing it off as
original. That, sellers, is a scam and I can spot it immediately. If I buy
one of these titles from you, I will report you as a fraud. It's just that
simple. Know your product before you make the claim of it being "In
Original Shrink Wrap." If you re-shrink wrap a near mint game, say so.
Collectors will appreciate the time you took to preserve the mint condition
of the game. I have bought re-shrink titles, knowing they were re-wraps,
just for the preservation aspect of it.
If you charge me shipping, regardless of what it might be. I'll pay it.
Would you send me the difference if you overcharged me? Chances are not. If
you made a mistake and undercharged me when you go to ship it, don't ship it
to me postage due. I WILL NOT accept it and will send it back, and then
demand a refund. It's not my fault you miss calculated the shipping
cost. I paid what you asked for. YOU need to incur the mistake, not me.
That's just part of doing business.
eBay sellers are very good at helping buyers save money on shipping costs.
If I purchase multiple items from you, and you will not combine shipping for
the items, then I will insist that those items are sent separately. You are
in your rights to ship as you see fit...but Failure to do so will constitute
shipping cost fraud on your part...and I will let someone know.
If you demand immediate payment, then I demand immediate shipping. Fair
don't you think?
I pay within 12 hours of purchase, most times within minutes of bid
closing. If I bid on an item, and it looks like I will not be able to pay
for the items in a reasonable amount of time, say within 24 hours, I will
let you know before of the bidding closing that that may be the case. I
always maintain clear communications on all points for every purchase and
potential purchase.
Feedback. I will always leave feedback for every purchase, good,
neutral or bad.
A bad item. I purchase something from you, it arrives off description,
or damaged, I will due whatever it takes to contact you about it. If I get
no response, I will use the channels for dispute resolution. I will not just
accept it. And your feedback will reflect it. See note feedback note above.
I am very well aware this is eBay and not Wal-Mart. I know
things are usually sold As-Is. I also understand that descriptions are
sometimes lacking. However, pictures due go far for me to purchase. Without
a photo, rest assured that I will most likely not give your item a chance.
Post pictures. I'm a fairly intelligent guy, I can figure things out from
there pretty well.
I have experienced the above points. Sad but true. If you are a good business
to deal with, rest assured that if you have what I am looking for I will return.
I always check trusted sellers first before I go out into the eBay market place
to look for stuff. If you are a good private seller, and have treated me fairly,
I will return. Count on it. You too will be checked for items I
want before I venture out into the general market place.
