I am a late-blooming, latently self-taught artist, just beginning to explore a whole world of creative ideas that have lain dormant in me for nearly 30 years.
I graduated with a Home Economics Related Arts major in 1963 and worked as an interior designer for ten years. Then I abandoned the creative muse in favor of a "more practical" career as a sex therapist for the next 30 years.
However, even there, I was drawn to the ephemeral and mystical aspects of the human psyche, and I focused my main work and Ph.D. thesis on women's integration of sexuality with spirituality through an understanding of mythological archetypes. My intuitive sense of the cyclic nature of women's lives, and my knowledge of multiple images that we carry in our identity, grow from my lifelong study of astrology.
Ultimately I found my way to the mythical and magical tales of the Goddess. And then, to teaching about female archetypes in correlation with the phases of the moon-- from which grew a thick written manuscript and a large series of paintings to illustrate different "faces" of Woman. From the paintings, I created an "oracle Deck" of cards, as well as a collection of greeting cards, workbooks, and journals which I have promoted at women's conferences in the past few years.
This series of 40 watercolor paintings has now evolved into a published Picture Book/Meditation Guide: THE GODDESS WHEEL, A Meditation Guide on Woman's Sacred Cycles and Sexual Mysteries. The book was released in November 2003. You may view pages from it in my Portfolio, here on EBSQ. Select the gallery titled "The Goddess Wheel." I have copies for sale in my Ebay store.
To date, I have never tried to sell any of my original paintings. Now that I have discovered the magical world of self-representing artists on the internet, I hope to offer prints of my work for sale as well as other items. ( In time, I expect to be able to let go of the originals too!) Anyone interested in purchasing one of the original paintings shown here can contact me by email for information on availability.
I am thrilled to have found, first, eBay, and now EBSQART.
As of February 2004, my self-designed, built, and managed
WEBSITE: "Fantasy Art and Woman's Mysteries" is online and open for viewing. It is designed as a sort of "workshop online" and presents the ideas I have developed in my writing and artwork related to women's sexual and spiritual mythos. Please come and visit.
I have set up several galleries in my Portfolio on EBSQ.
The main focus of my art can be found in the gallery titled "Goddess Paintings" and I am currently (as of July 2003) adding images to that series. There are a total of 32 different paintings. 8 represent major "Archetypes" of the feminine psyche. Then each of these have three "character masks" that women wear in our lives-- totalling 24 more images. It may take me awhile to get them all up on the site, so please come back and visit often.
My gallery, "Moon Paintings" shows a series of eight paintings related to the goddess book theme. Here you will find a brief demonstration of our cyclic and seasonal round of the wheel of life, upon which I've based my work.
The "Oracle" gallery shows a deck of tarot-like meditation cards I have developed from this series of paintings. This is available for sale on eBay, and also could be commissioned. Let me know if you are interested. Over time, this site will also include some hand-painted and drawn horoscope wheels, available for commissioned work.
A gallery titled "The Goddess Wheel" shows sample pages from my published picture book of the same name.
"Torsos and Masks" include photos of three-dimensional art work and body sculptures.
"Doll Art" gallery has photos of doll "make-overs" which are one of a kind fantasy creations using commercial doll figures or polymer sculpted figures in mystical settings.
The "illustrations" gallery contains paintings created as illustrations for various fantasy stories I am writing.
I hope to continue adding new items to all of these galleries over time, so please visit often.
If you have questions about any of these please feel free to email me... I welcome reasoned comments and thoughtful criticism.... (but be gentle with me please! I'm new at this and somewhat easily discouraged )
Best Blessings, and thank you for visiting.
