Welcome to My Little Corner of eBay Marlaine Clothing and Frills™ The real me... I’m a singer, sewer, and SHE (Stay at Home Executive) mom, with a career history in Insurance, Sales, and Marketing. I LOVE fashionable clothing and antiques! Born in New York, I come from an old generation, not that I’m old. What I mean is… my mother gave birth to me very late in her life. My oldest brother is 20 years older than me, so you can imagine the influences in my life. I grew up watching reruns of Elvis Presley, Doris Day and Jeri Lewis & Dean Martin movies. Our home was filled with your typical authentic 50’s décor. My mother’s mother (grandma) and my Great Aunt (grandma’s sister) lived next door to each other and they both retained their early 1900 home décor, furniture, and appliances well past their time. Everything from the cabinetry to the floor tiles was early 1900’s. The photos and memories of our family’s homes were like that of a historical museum, so much history of the “olden days”, as Grandma would call it. Between these 2 generations of collections (early 1900’s and 1950’s), I grew up around some fascinating vintage and antique items. I attribute my love for history and antiques to these 3 women. I love to buy for the house and to collect…especially collect. My favorite collections are my antique sewing notions and vintage clothing. In the displayed photo below, you’ll see some of the items I collected over the past year. My 2 favorites in this picture are: 1) the green vintage “Fashionbilt” coat with genuine mink fur collar (Yes, the coat IS really green!). 2) the “La Redoute Création” ivory silk Georgette dress, which was designed in France. An embroidered cotton tulle appliqué trims the neckline and straps and it has a flutter of ruffles at the hem, which makes it so feminine and pretty. This was a true find and I paid next to nothing for it. I Love, Love, Love these 2 items! Don’t ask, because I will not part with them!

Why I sell on eBay: Over the last year, I suddenly lost a considerable amount of hearing in one of my ears…very devastating. I couldn’t hear a conversation on the phone and that’s when I became suspicious. After seeing 7 Specialists, 3 wrong diagnoses, and 3 surgeries, I still do not have my hearing back. Imagine that kind of a blow when you’re young, you’re a singer, and you have a little one at home to take care of. Still…I’m grateful for what I DO have. I can still hear. The only thing that kept me sane during all that (besides God and my family, of course), was that I embraced some of my other passions…clothing design and antiques. I started collecting antiques and old stuff like never before and started some fun sewing projects...all "on a dime" (I have an eye for real bargains!). With the threat of the enormous surgery bills that piled in, I decided to put those 2 passions into play on eBay… to sell clothing and antiques and make some extra cash to help out at home.

Ebay Member since Sept. 2003. Buying & selling is more than just fun for me, it's a privilege. The thrill of shopping on ebay for that one of a kind item or landing on that one of a kind deal is enough to keep you addicted and coming back for more. It’s like hunting for a buried treasure…an adventure. You never know what you’re going to find or even if you'll be the first to get it (the thrill of the bid!). Getting to know other ebayers is a lot of fun, too. There’s a whole eBay world out there!
