I've been collecting Disney Movies for years. I come across rare Disney VHS movies that are guaranteed to be 100% authentic and offer them here on ebay for auction. I also collect DVD movies as well. If you are looking for something in particular, I can try to help you. eBay is a hobby for me, I am not a wholeseller or a retail store. I'm just a regular person who is addicted to eBay...lol

Please be aware of the many bootlegged / Asian imports on eBay. These are not worth anything and were absolutely NOT issued by Disney. Any auction you come across that says they are selling a quality import - this is NOT a Disney release.

Here are the ways you can spot a fake bootleg or an Asian import Disney DVD


1. If on the front cover of the DVD artwork it states : DTS Digital Surround Sound inside of a white banner across the top. Stay away from these auctions, they are imports!

2. Seller states that the "DVD is a quality import". These were NOT issued or released by Disney.

3. Seller is shipping from the Phillipines. Please be careful of these. Most of these sellers are selling imports. And of course as we know by now, these are not official releases from Disney.

4. Seller states in their auction that you will receive a quality Disney DVD for less than the cost of what you would pay in stores. Once again, you are most likely dealing with either a pirated (bootleg) or an import.

5. Seller is selling a Disney DVD that does not come in a case. Once again, you could be dealing with an import. Disney DVDS go up in value as time goes by. Value can go down if your DVD does not have it's original case.

6. You can see foreign writing (chinese)on the front cover case of the DVD. These are imports! They are worth nothing! And most likely will not play on your DVD player.

7. The DVD is a Region Free or All Region. These are imports!

8. The DVD contains Chinese subtitles, or even a Chinese language track. Only Disney released DVDS contain English/French/ and sometimes Spanish laungauge tracks. They do not include Chinese subtitles or Chinese language tracks.

Signs of an Official Disney Release DVD:

1. Factory sealed Disney DVDS have a stamp on the back of the DVD on the factory plastic. This stamp is the 'Buena Vista Home Entertainment' marking that is stamped in blue. The only Disney DVD that I have saw that does not have this is the DVD, The Nightmare Before Christmas. This is because this movie is distributed through Buena Vista Home Entertainment but was made through Touchstone Pictures. The DVD has the watermark on the disc from Disney. On the back of the DVD cover it will have an ISBN number and (two)Proof Of Purchase. NOTE: No where on the front cover of the DVD should it have the following words: 'Digital Surround Sound'

2. Offical Disney DVDS have a 'watermark' on the back of the disc.

3. All Disney DVDS have a serial number on the disc. If your seller can not tell you that the disc has a serial number, then avoid that DVD!

4. All Disney DVDS have a UPC / ISBN code. They will also have (two) Proof-Of-Purchase tabs. These will be on the back of the DVD cover art.

Be aware and ask a seller questions about the Disney DVD they are selling. An honest seller will answer your questions or provide you proof that the DVD they are selling is a TRUE Official Disney Release. Sellers that can not provide proof are most likely hiding something, and why take that chance?


Keep in mind, cheap imports do not have the same quality of an official Disney release. They have poor audio and video. They come with subtitles and most likely will not even work in your DVD player.


Please help stop these imports from being all over eBay. It hurts those of us who collect or just want to purchase a REAL Disney DVD. If you see auctions with any of the above warning signs of a Fake or Import Disney DVD, report these auctions to eBay. At the bottom of these auctions is a link to report them. As long as these sellers are able to keep selling these cheap copies, the more likely that you will purchase one and not be aware. ASK QUESTIONS UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED THAT YOU ARE PURCHASING A REAL DISNEY DVD. If your seller can't provide you proof, DO NOT PURCHASE THAT DVD AND HIT THE BACK BUTTON!
