The USGA has recently made a decision on iron grooves that affects all golf club sets being made today.  Because of this ruling, all irons and wedges being manufactured after January 1st, 2010 must comply with the new groove limitations.  For this reason, many of the current models may not be available for ordering from the manufacturer as they are allowing stock to run out.

Clubs already manufactured before January 1st, 2009 may be sold until January 1st, 2011 and may be legally played by amateur golfers until January 1st, 2014 but are not legal to play at the professional level after January 1st, 2010.

Please bear with me if I have to locate some stock to fill your orders while this transition is taking place.

Jim McLain has attended Golfsmith's Basic and Advanced clubmaking schools in Austin, Texas. He passed the rigorous accreditation exams for both the Golf Clubmakers Association and the Professional Clubmakers Society. He has been awarded the Professional Golf Clubmaker status, Advanced Clubmaker status, Class A Clubmaker status as well as receiving the Elite and Distinguished Clubmaker Awards. He was selected as the GCA South Carolina Clubmaker of the Year and East Region Clubmaker of the Year. His enthusiasm for the game is carried over to the craftmanship found in his clubs.

Jim is dedicated to helping you find your game at a reasonable price. Custom clubmaking entails fitting for club length, shaft flex and grip size. Also available are loft & lie adjustments, and frequency matching. In addition to custom clubs, Jim does golf club repairs for Green River Country Club of Chesterfield County, SC. He has a shop in Chesterfield where he does complete custom fitting with state of the art equipment.

McLain Custom Golf carries a full line of clubs to improve your game: Golfsmith, Snake Eyes, Killer Bee, Harvey Penick, and Zebra. Some other brands are available upon request.
