THE LIFE AND LOVES OF LIBBI

Hi!  First of all, the "me" in mebelt stands for Mary Elizabeth, but I've always been called Libbi.  I am so happy you checked in to see "About Me"!

I am located in Eastern Arkansas -- just a short drive from Memphis, Tennessee.  I have been e-baying for several years and I love it more all the time.  Of course, it's always fun to shop, especially when you can get such bargains, but most of all I love the interaction I have had with so many kind, generous and overall good-hearted people I have encountered during these transactions.  We all know that the "bad ones" are out there, but it has certainly warmed my heart MANY times to have my life touched, if only for that brief time, but the some of the "VERY GOOD ONES"!

The number one focus in my life is definitely God and attempting to stay focused on His will for my life!  Unfortunately, I am am often an unruly child and have been known to have a short attention span!  Not to worry, He is always there to straighten me out and pick me up out of the dirt, if necessary.  If you are one of His children, you probably can relate to this!  If not, I can highly recommend joining the family. We would love to have you!

Secondly, my family is so very dear to me - each and every one in their own special way.  I have a wonderful husband who is a great balance for me because in our case opposite definitely did attract.  He can do ANYTHING around the house and DOES .. and everything REALLY GOOD I know about cooking, I learned from him.  He is my rock and -- bless his heart -- he puts up with me sometimes when even I wonder why.  Must be that better or worse thing going on!  I am the very proud mother of three grown daughters - each of whom I have many reasons to be proud of.  (I will forego listing them all!!)  Jennifer (23) is a the oldest and is the sweetest, most giving person I have ever known.  Although she is a red-head, she has the patience of a saint.  I hope to be half as good as Jen when I grow up.  She is a teacher in training (3rd yr. ASU).  Next is  Tiffany (22), who was  the first to fly the coop.  Tiffany has a screwball (in a good way) sense of humor and marches to the beat of her own drum, FOR SURE.  She is a gifted artist and can express things in her work the rest of us feel, but cannot express with her flair.  Due to the fact that Tiff decided to forge out into the world first, I lock the other two in the closet at night .. (lest I go into empty nest syndrome before my time).   (JUST JOKIN' .. please do not call the Dept. of Human Services on me  :)   Then, there is Sherrye (18), the baby.   This wild child (a term of endearment) is what you call the GRAND FINALE.  She has a contagious smile, a free spirit and has never met anyone she couldn't spend an hour talking to the very first time she laid eyes on them.  She possesses every personality trait I ever had that was worth passing on and then a multitude more of her own design.  Last, but not least, my momma has come to live with us recently due to Alzheimers.  She is 84 and we have a dog and pony show around here lots of days you would not believe!  Seriously, some days her little light shines brightly and I am with"MY MOMMA" .. sadly, sooner than I'm ever ready for the light dims and she has retreated to a place only she knows.  I miss her and the old days, but try to live in the moment (to the fullest) each and every time I have the opportunity.  I am totally devoted ...

Now, for the furry participants in the dog and pony show previously mentioned .. we currently have four .. no, not ponies .. although nothing would surprise me around here .. LOL .. we don't have any ponies ... YET!   However, we do have .. COUNT 'EM .. FOUR dogs ... IN THE HOUSE.  Now, lest you get the idea I am one of those finicky folks who think animals are best left in the outdoors ... let me tell you our dogs are sometimes afforded the most attention of anything living under this roof .. well, maybe Momma gives them a run for their money ...

In the beginning .. 15 years ago we were dogless .. then I talked my husband into getting a BE-YOO-T-FUL little red cocker spaniel .. which we originally named Betsy, that name morphed into Beanie soon thereafter (long story).  When I tell you I love this dog .. well .. can't even explain it -- again, if you know, you know, and if not, well I highly recommend it.  Again unfortunately, she is now 15, almost deaf and blind and arthritic .. still a wild weasel some days.  I already miss her!  What a void that will be.  (See update below)  Next, we have Precious (11) who was adopted at age 9 as a late life companion to Beanie.  This dog is afraid of her shadow and anything else that moves or makes noise, but we love her for what she is ... Precious (in name and personality).  Again, last but not least, we have my momma's dogs (who came as a package deal with Momma) Daisy (10) and Blackie (old, also, but age undetermined as she was also a late life adoptee).

Well, I only wanted to have one child (I forget the reason for that at this late date) and I only wanted one dog .. so much for my supposedly Well Laid Plans!

More another day ... maybe!   (Submitted: 8-14-2004)

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent. Her eager little body quivers.  Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.  You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
