David Smith Artist & Designer:

At the tender age of two I completed my first Murial. As this work of art was on our Kitchen wall it was not so well accepted by my only two critics at the time (MOM & DAD). However when I refused to have my method of self expression muffled they finally relented and at age 11 I became the youngest student ever accepted for private study under North Carolina Artist CLAUDE TATUM BAILEY.

My first Commissioned Murial was at age 16 for a Church in North Carolina. I began work with a Large Stained Glass Studio in North Carolina at age 17 and Moved to Sarasota, Florida at age 19 to work with another Stained Glass Studio.

I began making FIRST DAY COVERs for a few Stamp Collector Friends at age 20 in 1985 and began producing LTD EDITIONS that were sold through Linn's and Stamp Collector Newspapers with the North Carolina Statehood Stamp Aug 22, 1988.

 

Today  I live about 60 miles from the GRAND CANYON on the Navajo Reservation with my wife Barbara and our 11 year old Daughter DIXIE (DIXIE DEW TRADING POST) and work out of my home. I have been producing a line of Hand Drawn/Hand Painted First Day Covers since 1985 and I also produce some very Unique ACEO trading cards. For the past 15 years I have been Designing Stained Glass Projects for several Studios across the United States. My work can be found in Private and Public Collections across the United States as well as on 4 of the seven Continents. I am always interested in reviewing proposals for Custom Commissions in various medium, feel free to contact me.
