We recently acquired the lifelong collection of Albert Peppis, his biography is detailed below...

Albert Peppis (1899-1989)
Albert Peppis was born July 5th, 1899 and died July 12th, 1989 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where his collection had
layed dormant for nearly 20 years until our recent acquisition of the collection. Albert was an avid mineral collector
and prolific field collector throughout the northeastern United States. He lived in New York City, and later in
Mt. Vernon, New York before finally retiring to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Albert was both a member of the
Franklin Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society and the New York City Mineralogical Society.
While his collection featured specimens from worldwide localities, he had a particular interest in
specimens from the northeastern United States. Between the 1930's and 1960's, Albert collected extensively throughout
the northeast, and his collection contained detailed diaries of his expeditions, old and obscure guides, hand drawn maps,
and more - a veritable treasure chest of New England collecting information! He collected extensively at
the Ruggles mine in New Hampshire and in Franklin, New Jersey, as well as Ellenville, New York;
Branchville, Connecticut; Chester, Vermont; and others. In addition to mineral collecting, Albert was a world
traveler with broad scientific interests, however he always made time to seek out foreign minerals on his trips.
In addition to field collected specimens, Albert purchased mineral specimens for his collection as well, from such
prominent mineral dealers as Hugh A. Ford, John Albanese, and fellow Ruggles Mine collectors, Alvin and Raymond Schortmann
of Schortmann's Minerals.
In addition to mineral specimens, Albert's collection contains an antique "Nuclear Super-Sniffer," and
aside from all of the field collecting information, a number of old books and periodicals such as old
issues of "The Mineral Collector" from the 1890's. Albert labeled almost all of his specimens, and kept a
corresponding card catalogue of them with more detailed information, and numerous mentions of notable old
and defunct "rock shops" throughout the United States. We are currently in the process of sorting out all of the
exciting wealth of northeast field collecting information, and trying to link specific specimens to their
corresponding diary entries. In the upcoming weeks, we will be offering specimens from this collection, in addition to
our usual worldwide and varied auction selections. We will be updating this page with any other relevant information
regarding our research into this collection. As always, if you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to ask! Enjoy!

- Do you combine shipping?
Yes, all winnings are always combined and you will receive a single invoice for your winnings. Generally there is no increased shipping costs unless there
are numerous very heavy specimens.
- Can you hold my auctions until next week, etc.?
If you have purchased a specimen and would like us to hold it for you so you can bid on an upcoming auction(s) and have all the specimens ship together we are
happy to do so. However, it is preferred that you pay for specimens as you win them - you will pay shipping on the first specimen and you will not
have to pay shipping on future specimens. Then, when you are ready to have us ship your winnings you just have to let us know.
- How will my specimen be packaged?
We take great pride in packaging our specimens with the utmost care. At a minimum, all specimens are wrapped in toilet paper or
dry-cleaner plastic, followed by bubblewrap and finally a volume of packing peanuts. However, we employ a variety of special methods depending
on the unique requirements of the specimen.
- Do you have a store?
We do not have a store, however we have a vast stock of minerals and would be happy to set up an appointment with you if you plan on being in the
Asbury Park, New Jersey area.
