     I am a stay-at-home mother of two. I live in a small town that has fantastic discount stores (but not much else.) I have been a shop-aholic for as long as I can remember, and Ebay has given me a Reason to shop!

     I got started on Ebay when the resale store had a special that they call "buggies". This store fills up a grocery shopping cart with merchandise, wraps the cart in plastic wrap, then sells the entire buggy for $10. I went Nuts! I purchased 17 buggies ... mostly garbage, but the items that weren't were awesome! My husband was just a bit peeved ... I had filled up his media room with piles of things ... so I decided to get rid of the nice things that I didn't want. I was Hooked.

     I have refined my shopping just a bit (though sometimes I just can't pass up a good " buggy".) I now prefer to sell "domestics" and children's clothing. Every few months, the reseller will get in a shipment from Bloomingdale's and Macy's, and these are the shipments that I focus on. I also purchase Target domestics and any other great finds from this reseller when my merchandise runs low.

Things I didn't know until I became a seller:

  • Ebay charges the seller one fee just to sell an item ... the fee is determined by the starting price. Have you ever wondered what was so magical about 9.99 and 24.99? Those are the cutoff prices for two of the levels ... list an item for 10 and you will pay 60 cents more than if you listed it for 9.99!
  • Ebay gets a percentage of the final selling price (not including the shipping.)
  • Paypal automatically charges the seller 30 cents whenever someone sends money.
  • Paypal then charges a percentage of the amount of money received (including the shipping.)
  • If a buyer gets 2 unpaid item strikes, sellers can block him from bidding on their auctions.
  • The new Detailed Seller Rating (DSR) is used by Ebay to reward AND to penalize sellers.  The customer is told that a Star Rating of "4" is good and that a "5" is for exceptional.  Ebay will penalize a seller for not maintaining a rating of 4.5 or higher and will reward for over 4.6.  Which simply means that a "4" is not a good rating.  For every "4" that a seller receives, it takes 19 "5"s to offset the "4."

Listings
To protect bidder privacy, when the price or highest bid on an item reaches or exceeds a certain level, User IDs will be displayed as anonymous names. For auction items, a bold price means at least one bid has been received.

Note: Anonymous names may appear more than once and may represent different bidders.
