Greetings! We have updated this page to reflect some new information so please read it even if you have bid with us before.
We sell Native American (primarily) Lakota arts and crafts for our friends on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Most of the items are made by children or teens and are given very reasonable starting bids or prices to reflect that.
We were very excited to have visited the rez in July! We attended a Sun dance, and dropped off clothing and supplies for some of the elders and families there. We were in and around Kyle most of the time. We can hardly wait to go back next year!
Those of you who have gotten familiar with us know that we have been assisting Lakota people for many years through various charities and also through personal efforts and collaboration with friends.
We finally realized that we have reached the end of what we can do as individuals and we will need to organize as a non-profit if we are to have a greater impact. Selling the crafts is VERY rewarding, as are the wonderful relationships we have developed over the years with people from Pine Ridge. But we really want to do more!
And so we would like to announce to all of our eBay friends that we have filed as a non-profit corporation in the State of CT and we are now working on the IRS application to file for non-profit status at the federal level.
We will continue to sell crafts for the kids and families here on eBay as it is rewarding for us, and the families need the extra income. To keep updated on the progress of our new organization, please visit our website, listed below.
We named the organization “ahopa” which is a Lakota word meaning that people are taking care of each other. The buffalo drawing that makes up our logo was drawn by 16-year old Jesse Grass of Porcupine. Jesse and his brother Kelly’s art has sold here on eBay and some of you are lucky enough to have some of their work. We love the buffalo drawing and hope that you will too.
The web site needs a lot of work and will probably go through many changes over the coming weeks and months but the statistics page and some of the other pages already have good info so check us out!
You can also view photos of our trip to the rez.
We welcome your suggestions, comments and questions and also ask for your support and prayers.
