Today, Tuesday, September 16, 2008--I live in Newport, TX which is near Galveston & Houston. We were hit pretty hard. One tree in my front yard was torn up by it's roots, another that was ripped in halg near the base of the trunck falling on my driveway & blocking us in. Also my neighbors pine tree feel on my roof & caused my fence to fall. Luckily no one was hurt in my family & circle of friends. The police were awesome. They came out the next morning & chopped the tree up along with several helpful neighbors so we could get out of our driveway. We were VERY lucky & I noticed that more as I tried to drive through our neighborhood. Several homes were destroyed by trees crashing through their roofs and windows. Many cars were destroyed as well. Most streets were impassible until the neighborhood came together to clean up what we could. Power lines and phone lines are down everywhere & have yet to be repaired. All that was done was workers placed cones around the damaged areas. Everyone I know has lost all their food due to having no power for refrigeration and if anyone knows Texas, it is pure hell living without AC. You can take twelve showers a day & still feel dirty from continually sweating from the heat & humidity.
I was lucky enough to get gas after waiting for two hours which is really a short time compared to others having to wait 4 hours or more. Getting groceries is just as bad. Most stores are closed still & the ones that are opened have lines that wrap around the store. So for the last few days, we have been living on pop tarts, crackers, chips, & all the other non parishable foods until we made it to my mothers who now has power. Gas prices have gone up .10 from 11am yesterday to 4pm yesterday. I'm not sure how much it is now.
THere is SO MANY people still without power and water so please say prayers!!
Just wanted to give an update on my status as to why nothing is listed to sell at this point. As soon as we can go home, I will list some more...several more items because we will really need the money at that point. I thank all of you who have purchased from me in the past & who will in the future.
God Bless!!
