Me with my painting "Red Velvet Roses" Summer 2007
|
| As a young girl, art was my favorite subject! I also liked to write, and create pretty much anything...
In high school, I took a lot of photography classes, and ultimately, majored in photography in college. I worked in the field for a few years, but later on enjoyed working in real estate management in NYC, while raising my son and photographing him and our adventures at home.
About 7 years ago, I got my CNA certificate and worked with people taking care of them. I have worked in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living and most challenging hospice for 2 1/2 years. God had that last assignment for me, and taught me the sanctity of life AND death. He taught me about pouring myself out for others.
At the end of 2006, I blew out a disc and had surgery in January of 2007. This left me a lot of time to think about my life, and where it was going. I always had the urge all of these years to create, and it sort of got lost in the shuffle. A friend bought me art supplies for my birthday, and I started on the journey back to art, back to myself.
Since then, I've been painting and creating - most recently my foray into "Art Cards," a fun little assignment I gave myself so that I didn't take it all so seriously.
I love creating, and I feel it is a wonderful gift I give myself, this time of creating. I asked God to teach me how to paint, and through the internet and friends, reading and studying and doing, I'm learning.
Thank you for looking, and caring!
I draw inspiration from life, animals and the seasons...using my camera phone to capture many of the images I paint! |
