Welcome! I thought I would tell you a little about me, Mod Lucy! When I started out selling on eBay, I was really into mod clothing, hence the name Mod Lucy. I have since branched out into other eras & a huge fan of decade mixing! I started selling vintage clothing several years ago at a small boutique, although I've loved vintage since childhood, playing with my mother's old clothes! I schooled myself on garment history in flea markets all over the globe, from the far reaches of the US (yay road trips!), to Mexican border towns, London, Paris, Barcelona and more. I still regret not getting that lovely Cruella DeVille style black coat in the Portobello Road market in London *sigh*... I realized the political side of wearing vintage 2nd; wanting to look like a movie star came 1st! I started thrifting because I was short on cash, but wanted something unique - then I was hooked! These days it's a preference, aesthetically and politically!
When you wear vintage, not only do you get amazing design & craftsmanship rarely seen in modern fashion, you are supporting entrepreneurs like me. Independent businesses prevent the homogenization of America; you're not supporting sweat shops & unfair working conditions! It prevents new and unnecessary clothing from being created which are less synthetics, chemicals & pollution - yay for clean air & water! Also, it's a heck of a lot more affordable, more bang for your buck! When you buy vintage, you're using your buying power to create a unique visual statement - you will never show up to the ball in the same gown as anyone! One thing about me is I buy almost as much as I sell!
My ever-changing line up of must haves...
I am a fan of oddities and all things cute! I love Japan Fruits, novelty prints from the 30's - 50's, colorful Lilli Ann coats, 30's & 40's dresses, brooches that look like little animals or have secret compartments, dirndls, Victorian pieces, and cute fitted 40's jackets! On Halloween my husband and I were wearing our normal clothes and people kept saying we looked like Bonnie and Clyde! Ha! I love smart design that is non-elitist, readily available, practical and affordable for all! If you don't like ebay, there is a thrift store in every town (which the proceeds generally go to a charity) or a vintage boutique in every big city, as well as every college town! You can hand wash almost everything or dryclean at a chem-free cleaner!
I want the world to be a better place. I want to provide you with so many wonderful relics that you stop shopping corporate for Christmas or Hanukkah! I want to find that dress that ends up being your favorite! Thanks so much for checking my auctions; with so many sellers, I feel honored to have caught your eye! Feel free to email me any time with any questions you have. Remember to try to always be kind and have a fantastic day!
This is one of my two pups adopted from Ponderosa Pomeranian Rescue! his name is Ralphie and he is the love of my life! Before buying a pet, consider adopting from a shelter or rescue group! They need your love!
