Folks sometimes ask why we call our place, Mole Hill Farm. 

When we moved here, it was 2001, the heyday of Martha Stewart (before jail).  One day while visiting, our daughter suggested we name the place.  I had always liked what Martha Stewart had named one of her places - Turkey Hill Farm.  As we looked around, the only thing that seemed to be thriving in the front yard seemed to be moles and their mole hills.  Thus, we named the place Mole Hill Farm and the name has stuck ever since.  The place has been somewhat improved since that day, with hardly a mole hill left (thanks to our barn cats).

Mole Hill Farm is located seven miles off blacktop roads, on 148 acres of hills, valleys, woods, five ponds, and a steam located in northeast Kansas (not all of Kansas is flat you know).  We have converted all the crop land to native prairie grass, and use it for rotational grazing of our Charolais cattle. 

The daily traffic count on our road is two: my husband and the mail man.  We aren't at the edge of the earth, but you can see it from here.

We awake each day to the rooster's crow, and go to sleep each night to the owl and the coyote's calls.  Deer, turkey, quail, phesant, as well as occasional raccoon, opposum, skunk and muskrat are our primary visitors.  The fish in our ponds are so friendly, my husband actually caught two on one lure last spring.

 We have six barns cats that protect the place (and play with the moles) as well as our golden retreiver, Holly and her companion Bubba who is a great pyranese/red heeler mix. All of our pets live in out buildings, so you can be assured anything you buy comes from a pet free, smoke free home. 

I am Joyce, the resident farm wife and Master Gardener.  After 30 years of working in offices and living in cities, my husband decided "Farm Livin' was the life for us (Shades of "Green Acres"). It has taken a while, but I have adapted from a life of working, shopping and traveling, to a life of gardening, canning and cattle mid-wifery.

In order to maintain contact with humanity and bring in additional income, I work on a temporarty basis for the Kansas Legislature as a committee secretary from January to April of each year.  I grow extra vegetables, flowers, herbs and fruits that I am hopefull my grandchildren will sell at farmer's market this summer.

As for the items I list on E-bay, I have been attending auctions and sales since I was about five years old - that would be 49 years now!  I decided to sell some things on e-bay to supplement our farm income and help pay our vet bills.  

My favorite collection would be my antique linens and bed spreads.
