Welcome to my AboutMe page!
Hello! My name is Mitzi Sato-Wiuff. I am an award-winning colored pencil artist (signature member of Colored Pencil Society of America) and a free-lance dance teacher who teaches ballet and jazz when I am not painting or doing computer work.
I started painting ballet images in the fall of 2001 after a short hiatus from intensive art production. Up until then, my works were neither about ballet nor in watercolor. Once I started planning ballet pictures, though, it occured to me that watercolor would be the best media for me to convey my impression of the art form that is ballet. Colored pencil is great for capturing details and doing tight renditions, but I was looking for more spontaneous and immediate flow of color... just as dance is.
Because of my dance training, I had often noticed ballet images that had technical mistakes (e.g. weird pointe shoes, inaccurate arm/feet positions etc.), and I wanted to make art for dancers and non-dancers to enjoy that was beautiful and depicted technical accuracy. After all, dancers and teachers work so hard for so long to achieve the clean technique. So, to present ballet in any art that showed it in anything less than perfection is something I didn't want to do or see done.
Shortly after my first collection ("The Nutcracker Collection") was finished, I started selling reproductions in matted prints, greeting cards and T-shirts at the studio where I teach classes. Following the immediate and positive response of the people at the studio, I started my own website Studio Miyabi (* Please use the link below.). From there, the collections grew with time and product line gradually expanded. Now I offer some of the popular products to a much broader community of customers on eBay.
I love to shop on eBay for items such as yukata kimono, obi, kimono accessories, amber jewelry, books and DVDs. Recently, my interest in yukata has led me to write a few eBay guides on the subject.
