Blurb about Mother_Road
In Case You're Wondering...
Our family gets out on the back roads when we travel. Forget the SuperSlabs with their boring coast-to-coast chains. Give us remote. Give us signs telling us how far to the nearest public phone. Give us winding roads in the mountains, flat never-ending roads in the desert, and if there's no center line that's okay by us. My handle, Mother_Road, honors Route 66, one of my interests.
eBay Lite...
I'm a casual eBay user, rather than a frequent browser, bidder, buyer or seller. I enjoy consignment shopping for clothes, and that interest spills over into browsing Goodwill, thrift stores and junk-tique shops for second-hand tidbits. Coming to eBay is a natural extension of that. My first purchase on eBay, and still my prize, was a 1952 Rand McNally US Road Atlas, showing the major traffic arteries in the US prior to the ubiquitous and uninteresting Interstates. I'm an amateur postcard collector - not going for value, but rather subjects I like, including past scenes and/or tourist traps along US 66, US 1, and other old highways; "Greetings from" postcards (linens, I've got all the states and pick up cities when I see them); older Ma & Pa hotels and motels which remind of the vacations my family took when I was a child (if they've got people and cars in them to make them look extra corny, all the better), and I'm getting very interested in Ma & Pa diners, too.
I don't sell very often, but every once in a while I rummage through things uncover items that other eBayers might like. It helps having a mother-in-law who's thinking of downsizing her home. She's a treasure trove of 50s-70s household gear.
