We are located on 150 acres at 3300' in the beautiful Fall
River Valley of Northeastern California. Surrounded by Mt Shasta,
Mt. Lassen, Thousand Lakes Wilderness, Burney Mountain, and Soldier
Mountain, our creeks and rivers provide world class trout fishing
and abundant wildlife.
The soils here are sandy and deep and water is
plentiful.
Agriculture, here, is mostly to do with hay, pasture,
and cattle, with a scattering of sheep and goats. Strawberry
plants, peppermint, and garlic are also grown with success. The Jepson Manual Higher Plants of California
(1993 Ed.) describes our area as part of the Great Basin Province.
We produce purebred registered Perendale, and CVM/Romeldale
sheep. Our sheep are able to graze for most of the year
on irrigated pasture so their fleeces remain relatively clean of
vegetable material. We also work at controlling how they feed
so that the feed stays mostly off of them. We also
use semen from carefully selected rams in New Zealand on
ewes from our Perendale flock and we are always looking for rams
which have a fleece which is fine enough to use for garment
manufacture. This last year, we purchased a beautiful black and gray
natural colored
merino ram and bred him to all of our fine wool and natural colored
ewes. Our March lamb crop this year should be awesome and
colorful. We are also
expecting some expecially great Perendale lambs this year from semen collected by Martin Dally in New Zealand
last January.
All of this leads to an interest in photography
and we have a collection of great cameras for sale which we have acquired through the years
