My story is "about me", but my store is "about you". I believe my customers are #1; after all I couldn’t be here without you. it is simple - I treat you, as I would like to be treated. I hope you read my story not as a "poor me" story, but as one of, an albeit small, "true success" story.
In 2001 (after almost 19 years with Philips Semiconductors) my husband was laid off (on his birthday) when the plant closed its doors here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was a busy full time mum of two active and activity involved teenage home-schoolers.(Although my daughter was recovering from an accident that nearly took her life). With jobs difficult to find, my husband, Ron decided to retrain as a long haul truck driver and took to the road. It was hard, we missed him, seeing him only 2 days every 3 to 4 weeks. He was doing everything her could to provide for us. I continued to homeschool my kids while taking a full time job close to home. I had been having some health issues that steadily worsened.
With his Naval and Semiconductor background Ron found a job close to his original field with K-tech / Sandia here in town in 2004 (also on his birthday!). He continued to drive trucks, delivering fuel on the weekends. 2007. I drove and electric wheel chair to and from work for over a year. After being attacked by a dog, an accident at work, and health issues, I made the difficult decision to try to work from home. I had to do something to keep me, active, motivated, and try to help out with medical bills and making ends meet. E-bay was a natural choice. I started with just a few items and have stayed small, working within my limits to be able to provide my customers with the best service I can give. I opened my store 08-08-08
The Good News
2009 .Both my children have graduated with a high school diploma. My daughter (who helped care for me) graduated two years ahead of schedule and my son (who also took on a full time job) was ranked in the top 1% in the nation when he graduated. My son, Randy, now 23, is engaged to be married, works as an assistant manager at a local convenience store, and is attending college for Biotechnology. My daughter, Misty, 20, works as a personal assistant/life coach for a mentally challenged young woman in a group home setting. She starts college in January for Radiology / Pharmacy Assistant. My wonderful husband, of 27 years continues to work 2 jobs, 6 days a week, 70+ hours, but is home every night. Being home (and with med changes for Parkinsons') my health has slowly improved this last year.
"True success is getting up one more time than you fall down."
You will see this saying at the end of many of my auctions: The words came on plaque given as a gift. It was tongue-in-cheek with my frequent falls, but it is true on many levels. No matter how many times we fall, or how hard we fall, there is true success in getting up, struggling through, and/or starting all over again. I thank God for the strength he has given me and my family, I also thank my customers past and present who have kept me going in more ways than they can immagine. Times have not been easy, but we are still all here, together, a family, My prayer for all of us is simple - that we can all get up ONE MORE TIME. God Bless, thank you for your time, and I bid you a sunny day, Rainey.
