We've been collecting postcards for 15 years adding to our household already full of other collectibles!
Eight years ago, we discovered ebay and started buying & selling various treasures, later opening
our Mrs. Dumpty's Postcard Store to better showcase our postcards.
We think that part of the success in being a good ebay seller is to have been a buyer previously
to learn from that end what buyers really want in their packaging, etc.
We are constantly acquiring new postcard collections & accumulations as well as making room for new
additions to our collections, requiring us to glean out some of our own cards.
Therefore, we always seem to have some cards to share with fellow collectors who are looking for new aquisitions.
We think every post card is a treasure to someone out there and we enjoy trying to find good, loving homes for all of the cards we list!

the condition ratings we give our postcards when listing.

RESOURCE
RATING SCALE USED TO GRADE CONDITION OF OUR POSTCARDS

The condition of our postcards is carefully graded using these factors: corners, edges, front surface of card, and back side of card.
An overall rating on a card corresponds with the chart below in relation to its condition and possible flaws.
A card may not have all of the factors present that are listed below, but it will give you an indication of how the card was rated.
A "+" (plus) sign next to a rating means that the card is on the higher end of its rating, almost making it good enough to go to the next highest rating, usually because there is only one detractable flaw that caused the card's condition to be downgraded.

We think it is important for bidders to truly know the condition of a postcard since they cannot inspect the cards themselves--our feedback shows that we have been consistent in rating cards appropriately. We also have the original full-sized postcard scans available for review (as opposed to the slightly smaller-sized scan below which was adjusted by ebay). If you would like to see an original scan of a card to further inspect its condition, *PLEASE* email us at mrsdumpty@att.net and we'll send it to you as an attachment.

Because we include so many condition details, we have heard from many buyers who say that the card they received looked better than it sounded in the description. We've even been told we go overboard in details at times, making a card "sound worse" than it is. Many times these details are not listed in other postcard listings on ebay, but the same wear does exist on these cards with similar ratings. Since the wear is honestly described and mentioned in our listings, we've been told it can make some bidders shy away from bidding because it makes the card sound flawed. Please keep in mind that many of the other similar-condition cards for sale on ebay may have the same wear/flaws, they just aren't mentioned. However, we know how disappointed we were in the past to receive a card with flaws we didn't expect because condition details were not included in the listing. Often times, the card had wear we could live with, but we just didn't appreciate not knowing that in advance. That's why we take the time that we do so our buyers are informed and don't receive surprises! So please refer to the grading chart below when reviewing our auctions.

EXCELLENT	ALMOST NO WEAR AT ALL--ANY WEAR IS EXTREMELY MINOR. Corners & edges are sharp and very nice, or may have just the tiniest bit of corner bumping and/or edgewear. Front surface has a clean and smooth finish with very little wear or hardly any scuffing/scratching at all. Front may be super glossy (chrome) or have a nice sheen (linen). Back side is usually nice & clean (even if it is postally used and has handwritten message). Back may also show normal overall dulling due to age,
VERY GOOD	LIGHT & MILD WEAR. May have some mild corner bumping & light edgewear. Some corners may have a bit of bending and/or creasing at their tips. A little bit of edgewear may be seen in a few places. Front surface may show some light scuffing/scratching, mild impressions or light spots of postal ink. Back side may have overall dulling due to age and there may be some mild discoloring/yellowing, or light spotting/staining/smudging in a few spots. A few tiny and light insignificant creases may be present, not detracting to overall presentation.
GOOD	SOME OVERALL WEAR. Corners and edges may show some wear. Card may have obvious corner bumping with bent or rounded corners. Edges may show some chipping or creasing in spots. Front surface may show scuffing/scratching or a more noticeable impression from the cancellation on the back side (can be seen if card is moved in the right light). May have more noticeable spots of postal ink. Front may have some soiling or bends/creases in an area of the card. Back may have overall discoloring, staining, soiling, or a more obvious mark of damage (dried album residue, an adhered sticker, etc.)
FAIR	OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR OR A DISTINCT MARK OF MAJOR DAMAGE--A CARD IN THIS CONDITION IS SOLD "AS IS." Corners show definite wear and one corner may even be chipped off completely. Edges are chipped and soft. Front surface shows overall soiling, scratching or scuffing. Card may have several creases or bends. Back side may have significant soiling, staining or other serious marks of damage.
