History - MTB Bearings came about after getting tired of paying ridiculous prices to replace relatively inexpensive mountain bike parts.  I decided there had to be a better and cheaper way to service our bikes at home.  After lots of phone calls, emails, research , web surfing and help from you I have tracked down the bearings used by many of today's major bike companies.  I knew that there must be other people out there who are tired of paying for the overhead of large biking companies so I started MTB-Bearings!

Bearing Replacement Kit Description:

Each Replacement Bearing Kit comes with all the bearings bearings needed to upgrade your suspension pivots on your bike, or all the bearings you need to replace the worn out ones in your hubs or bottom brackets. I will always list the bearings that come with each kit and where ever possible tell if the kit is incomplete in any way. Listed below you can see the bearing kits I offer.

All bearing are deep groove cartridge bearings made of hardened chrome steel and all use 2 rubber seals or 2 metal shields to protect the greased ball bearings. Each bearing is  produced to ABEC 1 or better and ISO 9001 standards.

What does ABEC mean?

• ABEC stands for Annular Bearing Engineers' Committee.
• The ABEC scale classifies different accuracy and tolerance ranges for bearings measured in microns (1 micron = 0.001mm)

All precision bearings have a minimum ABEC 1 rating. For a 608 (8 x 22 x 7 mm) bearing, this determines

1. how close the bore is to 8 mm in microns 
2. how close the outer diameter is to 22 in microns 
3. how close the width is to 7mm in microns 
4. the rotating accuracy in microns 

Does ABEC Matter?

• NO - ABEC ratings are irrelevant when dealing with suspension applications such as are found in the suspension pivots of mountain bikes.  The ratings are based on high-speed rotational applications where a suspension application is high-load/ low speed.

Do I need MAX or Full compliment bearings?

• NO - MAX or "full compliment" means that there will be one or two more balls within the bearing. The idea is the spread the stress out through the bearing. But for the extra cost the added benefits are questionable. All my bearings are Chrome hardened steel and are plenty strong enough for a suspension application.
• Other companies selling bearing kits will tell you need MAX bearings but won't tell you what bearings you need so you can't do a price comparison and don't back up their claims with any proof. Some bike companies won't even tell you what bearings you need because they want to sell you there $100+ kit! I've done the research so you don't have to!

Are your bearing OEM replacements?

• YES & NO - The bearings I sell are the exact same dimensions as the ones that came with your bike. Many of them are the exact same bearings used in your bike but manufactured in China so they are cheaper in price only. Some manufactures use "full compliment" bearings, some use angular bearings, some use needle bearings, most companies use deep groove cartridge bearings. All my bearings are Deep Groove Cartridge bearings. If your bike uses angular or needle bearings I likely don't carry bearings for your bike. If you feel you absolutely need OEM replacement bearings contact your bike manufacturer and they will get you the kit you want.
