Kennett Square, PA is The Mushroom Capital of the World. Did you know that? Cultivated mushrooms started here in the late 1800s. 50% of the nations cultivated mushrooms are grown In Southern Chester County, PA. Our family grows the white mushrooms and our friends in the mushroom business grow portabella, baby bella, shiitake, oyster, maitake, enoki and other varieties.
We recently started shipping fresh mushrooms all over the USA. We ship on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Our mushrooms are picked the day they are shipped. Destination zipcode determines how the package will be shipped. Mushrooms cannot freeze nor can they stay in the heat too long. They do need to breathe. We highly recommend shipping 2nd day air, Express Mail or UPS Ground so that you can receive mushrooms fresher than you may have ever seen before.
Along with the mushrooms we send brochures with nutritional information, recipes and information on how to handle mushrooms.
Mushrooms are readily available to me 7 days a week.
If you ever visit Kennett Square, PA - also home to Longwood Gardens in the heart of the Brandywine Valley you should stop by The Mushroom Cap at 114 W. State Street in the town of Kennett Square. On weekends we offer tastings of mushroom soup and/or mushroom salad.
Our most popular item is a 3 lb. box of mixed mushrooms. It includes 2 portabella mushrooms with some whites, baby bellas, oysters, shiitakes and enoki mushrooms. This is a great gift - one we shipped all over the USA just before Christmas.
Mushrooms were put on this earth for a reason. Some cultures have been eating them for thousands of years and use them to promote good health. They are good luck to some! ENJOY!
