My daughter Gopi

We are a mother-daughter team. My name is Anna (Laxmipriya). I am a 41 yr old kindergarten teacher and mom of 6. My 20 yr old daughter Gopi pictured here is my assistant and does most of the listing and packing. She is also a full time student at SMU and part time kindergarten teacher with me at TKG Academy, the school she herself attended from Kindergarten through high school. If you click on the link, you will see her picture as a cute 4 yr old on the top right side of the site header next to the words "teaching, knowledge, guidance".

TKG Academy--Kalachandji School
I'd like to tell you a bit about TKG Academy, formerly known as Kalachandji School.

Kalachandji School was established in 1972 as the first Gurukula (literally "school of the spiritual master") in the United States. Its founder was A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, whose goal for the school was to provide spiritual and academic training to the children of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Today, TKG Academy serves the children of the Greater Dallas area as a day school.

The surrounding community
The temple restaurant, school, temple and residential housing occupy several contiguous blocks in historic East Dallas. The school building, renovated in 1993, dates back to the early 1900's. Originally a farmhouse, the building sits in the midst of a pecan grove, providing a peaceful spiritual oasis two miles from downtown Dallas.

The goal
The overall goal of the school is to provide academic training equivalent to or exceeding the local public school system and to provide basic exposure to Vedic Culture in a drug - free and violence - free environment. The atmosphere of TKG Academy instills in students an increased awareness and appreciation for virtuous and responsible character, a quality of any person persuing genuine spirituality.
