I've bought several items on E-Bay and really enjoy the experiences I've had with every seller I've bought from.  I've noticed that their auctions really reflect their personalities and interests.  

In my past life, "BR" (before retirement,) I had worked in customer service for a large appliance company, been a bank teller, and enjoyed seveal years in retail managment.  The best part of these jobs was dealing with customers and building their trust in me and the companies that I had worked for.  I won several awards for my consideration to the companies, my fellow workers, and of course, the customers, who had always been my number one priority.

I brought home my grandmother's 1915 Singer model 66 Red Eye treadle in the #6 cabinet from Oregon this past summer.  I was expecting the poor old thing to be in shambles and she was.  Took me 9 days to break the rusty joints loose!  Took even longer for me to carefully strip, repair, and get the cabinet ready for staining and varnishing.  About 7 months long!  Well, my pains and effort paid off and she sews like a dream and looks beautiful!  I'm still learning to wiggle my feet on the treadle to make her go forwards and not backwards, but thanks to Treadleon.net, I have learned to find the "sweet spot" and am doing pretty good on her.  I'm about to try sewing on real fabric with needle and thread instead of "air sewing".  I'll let you all know how that goes soon.

My Grandmother was a fascinating woman who drove an ambulance during WWI and made bandages and other items on this very machine in her effort to help the USA during that terrible war, and did that all as a volunteer!  Her name was Gertrude and she passed away 16 years ago at the young age of 100!  God bless her!  So I named her treadle "Gertie" (grandma's nickname) in honor of her.  I've got lots of pictures of her, so I put 2 on this page just so I can show off a little! My poor hands with no more fingernails and all sorts of scars and stains, but it was worth it in the long end and I just want to share the fruits of my labor, and Grandma's, with you all.
