My name is Alvin Eckert and I am a cachet designer and cover sponsor living in Fairfield, California. I was a dental technician in the US Navy (1957-60) at San Diego and Treasure Island. Ship cover collecting and exhibiting have been my main hobby since 1988. As a retired CA state employee I can now spend all day at my computers when I am not traveling to far-away vacations sites!  The covers I sell on e-bay are nearly all designed and printed in my home-office and exhibited at Northern California stamp shows such as WinePex (San Raphael) SacaPex (Sacramento) and the annual USCS National Convention (various cities). I have exhibits on over a dozen topics: The Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien, Mexican War 1946-47, Napa's Basalt Built WW II USN Salvage Ships, Coast Guard Vessels, &  Hills Class Oil Tankers (named for San Joaquin Valley oil fields).

Other Stamp Ship Exhibits: Mission Class Tankers (built in Sausalito), Ships with California Place Names, Victory Ships named for American Colleges, Operation Iraqi Freedom Ships, The 100th Anniversary of USN Destroyers and Swan Island Built Tankers named for Pioneer Oregon Settlements.

I am a proud member of the Universal Ship Cancellation Society (#9964) and the Saginaw Chapter (meets in Vallejo monthly) of USCS. I am a former stamp collector and try to match up the stamps with the postmarks and the cachets designs. This is not always possible but I have been able to match up all three for various events for the USS Ronald Reagan, an aircraft carrier based in San Diego.
