The proceeds from your order are helping establish a vibrant chess community in Fargo, ND and the surrounding area.  Some of the activities that are sponsored by your eBay purchase include:

  • The ChessNuts Chess Club - The club meets on Friday nights at the downtown Fargo Subway from 8:00pm until midnight. Players are welcome to arrive later or leave earlier due to our informal and flexible meeting format. Open to the public at no charge... there are no fees or dues of any kind.
  • The ChessNuts Challenge Tournament - Annual chess tournament that brings chess Masters, IMs and FMs to our area for top level competitive chess!
  • High School Chess Coach - The ChessNut tutors the members of the Fargo North HS chess club in preparation for the State High School Championship!
  • The ChessNuts Chess Club web site (www.ndchessnut.com) - Featuring a collection of chess improvement tools and resources recommended by the ChessNut.  I've organized my suggestions of how to learn more about chess and how players of almost every level can improve their game.  The ChessNuts Classroom study plan shows players of all levels what what books, web sites, and chess programs I personally use to improve my own game.

As you may already know, there are many benefits to playing chess, making it much more than an idle pastime.  Chess players do better in school, learn the value of logical thought, and understand more clearly the link between one's choices and their consequences.  I coach a local high school team, and from the beginning to the end of each school year see measureable personal growth in every student that takes an interest in learning and studying chess.
