Back to previous page  Neena's Treasures For All Seasons In 1989, I started operating from my home and I did craft shows for all the reasons anyone would want - more exposure for the things they make. I designed florals and also hand-painted wooden items of my own design. I did vine designs in private homes on walls, entrances interior and exterior and fireplace facades. I scouted the entire area for fine vintage pieces that could be resold. Of course, they were always of the utmost in condition and uniqueness. I have talent for recognizing quality. When the craft shows became too difficult and hard on me and my treasures, I started having semi-annual house shows and invited other artisans to join me. I developed quite a network of talented artisans from the people displaying their wares at the various craft show locations. I did not like the fact that they were called "craft shows" instead of "art show" because I felt the things that I made were more than just "crafts". The artisans who joined me helped me make quite a reputation for the shows in my home and a vast mailing list and inventive advertising transpired. It had always been a dream of mine to someday own a retail shoppe. I majored in fashion merchandising at Oklahoma State University. I was invited to show my home in the Downers Grove, Illinois Housewalk in 1994, where ladies would stand in line for long periods of time to see all that was in this home of distinction they had heard about so much. Of course, the next phase was to find a location for the shoppe. I had always had my eye on Lemont, Illinois because of its uniqueness and quaint small downtown feeling, It was full of antique stores, but lacking in a specialty shoppe. I found the largest location with the most amazing "landlord" that you could ever dream of. We agreed on just about every term there was to be discussed and legally entered into. They made it possible for me to move forward and Neena's Treasures for all Seasons became a reality and the largest shoppe in the downtown area of Lemont. I developed an amazing following and reputation for the 59 artisans that I represented, myself and the ladies that were hired to make this a success. When I decided to retire from an actual retail location, I began to liquidate my inventory and create new things that I now am offering on my eBay store, Neena's Treasures For All Seasons.
