nicholas yust currently lives in his hometown of cincinnati, ohio. after completing high school, nicholas studied fine art and art history at the university of cincinnati school of design art architecture and planning for two years, focusing on abstract oil pastels and interior architecture. transferring to engineering, he graduated with a b.s. in materials engineering and a m.s. in metallurgical engineering. he interned and worked for the united states air force at wright patterson afb, researching superconductivity and thin film coated conductors. it was at this time that nicholas first experimented with sheets of aluminum by cutting, bending and grinding patterns into them. as he continued to create wall sculptures he also experimented with freestanding sculptures and has developed dozens of unique grind patterns signature of his work. he also experimented with and developed an atomized transparent coating process which allows the his grind patterns to be seen through a spectrum of vibrant colors. nicholas is the only advanced metal artist using this coloring technique. due to the high demand for his artwork, nicholas has continuous success selling in many local, national and international galleries including: britiain, germany, france, england, australia, bulgaria, austria, netherlands, sweeden, canada, mexico, puerto rico, brazil, argentina, greece, portugal, iceland, dubai, japan, china, new zealand, singapore, south korea,
latvia, spain and the united states. he also actively displays and sells his work at art expo's and exhibits, starbucks, a multitude of online virtual galleries, ebay and his own personal gallery.
nicholas continues to create original pieces, while constantly reproducing some of his best loved sculptures. in 2007 he debuted at the art expo new york with excellent reviews. throughout the year nicholas continued broadening his capabilities and offerings, and has expanded his studio from 1200 sq-ft to over 3500 sq-ft to accommodate the demand. besides his traditional line of work, he also took part in several large scale charity projects and commissioned monumental designs for multiple corporations, restaurants and bars. most of his work comes as custom orders for large-scale abstract metal wall hanging sculptures, free standing sculptures, special interior metal treatments and store signs. nicholas recently commissioned a custom fusion wall sculpture for season 3 of the hit sci-fi television show eureka. in 2008 nicholas secured several licensing contracts with artisan house and is currently working on agreements with two other worldwide metal art suppliers.
