I was a competitive bodybuilder and runner for many many years, exercising five
days a week. I had two serious falls, one down some stairs (in heels), and one
running on concrete. I ended up injuring my neck severely. I was told that I was
lucky that I didn't break it. That was two years ago. I have been unable to do
anything physical in all that time.
Along with numerous pain medications and severe pain that I did not think I would
be able to live with, I became more severly depressed. My health suffered and it
was found that I had a large mass in my left lung the size of a grapefruit. I was
treated six weeks with antibiotics so that they could do a biopsy, but I decided to
take my health in my own hands. With some help from a Naturopath I did a 60 day
juice fast. I began to breathe muh easier and my energy improved though I was
still on the pain medications, and Dependant on them (I must admit). I also started
drinking Xango (mangosteen juice) and did their 30 day challange while on my
fast. It is a cancer challange. I drank a bottle a day. Studies have found this juice
may help with Cancer and many other illnesses.
I was admitted to the Hospital last January, 2007, because the pain was so intense.
I had not slept in a week, was hyperventilating and seriously thought I was going to
die. In the Hospital they doubled my oral pain meds, and had me on a morphine
drip. It baely touched the pain, still. While in the hospital , they did chest exrays
and found that the mass is gone, with only a bit of scar tissue remaining. I have also
had biopsies done on my thyroid, and have regular scans done. The last time I
went one of my Tumors had shrunk 30%, unheard of. I believe this is due to my fast
and Mangosteen juice.
When I was released from the hospital, with a bigger Pain medicine perscription,
I was wasted and depressed. I was unable to think, drive, put together sentences,
read, it was horrible. I called my Dr. for a followup appointment, and to talk to him
about my obvious dependance on the pain medication, and was told that I was no
longer a patient there. That's it, no letter, no reason, nothing, after seeing him 16
years. Yes, I did report it to the Texas Medical Board, but have not heard anything
yet.
I began seeing a Chiropractor, and she, along with adjustments four times a week,
put me on a decompression table for my neck. The exrays showed 14 severly
injured vertebrate. I was also given Electric Stimulation. I wanted to die from the
pain, (seriously!). I was so tired of this! And tired of being so wasted just to
function.
I locked myself in my house and weaned myself off the drugs. I had a bottle left,
so I weaned myself off them over a 30 day period. It was difficult. I had visual
hallucinations, sweats, shakes, vomiting, diahrea the whole works. It worked
though, and I am completely off them, I no longer even take any over the counter
medications.
I then did another 30 day juice fast to get the drug toxins out of my system, and
re-experienced some of the same withdrawel symptoms, albeit not as severe.
The most amazing thing is, that once I started, my pain began to lessen.
I take my mangosteen juice everyday, and I have read several books again (YEA!)
on Natural Health and Nutrition. My favorite by far is "The China Study" by. T. Colin
Campbell. It is a study that has spanned 27 years so far that directly correlates our
diet and our diseases. I highly reccomend it!
I have changed my diet dramatically, eatting mostly Raw fruits, veggies, and
sprouted grains. My spinal injuries have begun to heal so rapidly and my pain
has decreased so much that even my Chiropractor is amazed. On raw foods,
I have energy, even after stuffing myself. I find that when I do eat cooked foods,
I do not feel as well, and if I eat meat, forget about it. It just sits in my stomach
and I feel horrible. The more Raw I eat, the more that is what my body wants.
I have a great uncook book....."Juliano's Raw" by. Juliano. He has a raw food
restaraunt in Santa Monica. The recipes are so tasty you just cannot believe it.
I was able to begin physical Therapy this week, and am down to three appts. a
week. I am beginning to list on Ebay again, as, I kind of let it go. It has been tough,
especially with no insurance, no income, and no disability. I'm Putting a few of my
