Born both an artist and scientist, Nix has been creating inventive art forms for nearly 20 years under various aliases. Past work has included everything from graphic design to visual arts to lighting fixtures to furniture and clothing design. Throughout the past ten years, the artist has been recognized repeatedly for creating pieces that are innovative, unusual, and striking. In 2007, Nix chose to stray from the common canvas in an effort to avoid all things ordinary and embrace a combination of fascinations -- color, chemistry, and dimension. Although never one to duplicate, Nix's new brand of "toxic" art is not without inspiration... from architecture to graffiti, a few of Nix's past influences have been Frank Gehry, Alessandro Mendini, Philippe Starck, Eero Aarnio, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, and Buff Monster. The end result of this toxic concoction is semi-transparent, dimensional pieces that jump off the walls and evoke emotion... some are pure fun, some dive much deeper. Often present is the Nix skeleton kitty, "Ten". Inspired by the Japanese character "Mighty Atom", Ten is somewhat of an homage to stencil graffiti and Japanese animation. The addictive creature often takes over smaller canvases, but can also be found hiding between the layers of Nix's core pieces. As an artist, Nix's goal has always been personal illustration of the imagination. The latest use of transparency, light, color, and dimension make this goal a reality and truly embrace Nix's belief that "anything is possible"...
