Welcome to my 'About Me' page. I intend to use this space to hopefully clarify some questions, etc. that I commonly get and just to review some of my selling policies as I go. Also, at this time, I do not have an off-ebay website, but you can also visit me at Yahoo auctions under the name of schmoozeu.
SHIPPING DISCOUNT POLICY:
As an individual who has purchased items on ebay, I will be the first to acknowledge that shipping costs can add up. With that said, I also maintain that the ability to purchase a few items at the same time to save a few $ on shipping is one of the best ways to go. As someone who sells items on ebay, it can be a real paperwork and inventory nightmare to hold onto people's items while they shop for the next few days. Therefore, I offer a discount on items won/purchsed over the SAME DAY ONLY, not 2, 3, 4, days later. I find this to be the best WIN-WIN option available. I encourage potential buyers to check out my ebay store (another work in progress) or any sellers to see what other items are available that may interest you as a buyer. If you don't see something that you want, just click on 'Ask a Seller a question' or e-mail me direct schmoozeu@yahoo.com . I check my e-mail and respond frequently during the day and early evening. The way to calculate the shipping discount is as follows:
A) use the highest shipping amount of all the items purchased to start with
B) then add for each item purchased:
under $50.00 add $1.50
50.01 to $100 add $2.50
each $100 increment add $1.50 for each item
As always, if you have a question, either "Ask a Seller a question' or e-mail me direct schmoozeu@yahoo.com
SHIPPING INFO:
I make every effort to get your item in the mail within 24-72 hours after payment. My usual shipping days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. During busier times, I may increase that. The shipping price listed in my auctions are for within the continental USA. I WILL ship overseas; however, the potential buyer needs to ask me in advance what the costs will be and method of shipping. For this I do require some information to help me research it (a little time to reply): country, zip code, etc. I have shipped to more then a few different countries already, but wish to reserve the right to confirm that it is legal to send valuables over international waters.
SHIPPING METHODS:
I predominantly utilize USPS for shipping. All items I ship will utilize some sort of tracking info (Delivery Confirmation, Signature Confirmation depending on the value. I ship First Class, USPS Priority, Registered depending on the item(s) and value). Every coin is wrapped is enclosed in a 'ziplock'-type baggie to prevent any possible water damage (I've had it happen on a $1000 coin I purchased), wrapped inside the invoice of item purchased to provide some additional protection. Additionally, I may stuff a few shipping peanuts and/or bubble wrap for 'overkill' of protection. Bottom line I want the items to get to you safe and intact.
REFUND/RETURN POLICY:
98% of the coins I sell are certified and graded by a 3rd party grading company (TPG) - PCGS, NGC, ICG, ANACS, etc. (the major and most credible ones). Each grading company ultimately has a guarantee on the coins they grade and slab, which may be different from each other. Please be aware of the grading company's coins policies are that you are buying. I rarely sell a coin that is in a raw or ungraded state and will NOT accept returns on these items unless I grossly misrepesent the item description. If you want a cheap 'look-see' go to your local coin store. As for graded coins, I will accept returns or exchanges with a 10% restocking fee, plus ebay' Paypal fees, and at your shipping costs. You must notify of any questions/issues in writing within 48 hours of receipt of the item and must not altered/damaged and returned with the original packaging.
With that said, I have received numerous questions regarding whether there are any knicks, dings, scratches, toning, hazing on the coins and on the slabs. Folks, the reality is this: the coin is assigned a grade (usually 70 being a perfect strike) by a TPG and slabbed in some form of a plastic casing. Coins are assigned whatever numerical grade because of any issues on the coin itself, whether it's a MS or PR 69, 68, 67 or lower. Anything less then a 70, reality is, its is NOT a perfect strike. The casing or slab is the part that literally gets held in one's hands. It may get a tiny abrasion or something based on the amount of times it has been handled. To ask whether a slab has any markings on it is a redundant question. No one holds slabs with the soft white gloves. 80%+ of the coins I list are freshly graded and thus the least possibly handled coins and cleanest out there. If you want perfect, then you want a 70, but please be advised the value of a 70 may cost anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand more. I am more then capable of assisting you in building your Registry set (70's). Feel free to ask me. I write these specific things to help manage your expectations as a buyer and what is expected of me as a seller. Truth is truth, BS is BS. I'd rather be harshly honest, then accused of duping someone on a $25 coin. After all, it is ebay, and ebay attracts both good and bad, both buyers and sellers.
PAYMENT TYPES/INFO:
I accept Paypal (usually items under $500) , Bidpay, Money Orders, Bank (Cashier) checks and Personal checks (with up to a 10 day for clearing) UNLESS otherwise specified. My Paypal address is schmoozeu@yahoo.com Any mail in payments should be addressed to: Steven Sherman, PO Box 555, Toms River, NJ 08753. Payment is expected within 5 days of auction close, if a mail payment, within 10 days. IF mailing in a payment, please compete the ebay checkout process which will inform me of your payment intentions. Unfortunately, I do NOT accept direct credit card payments.
Some people buy coins and collectibles for their 'bullion' value and appreciation, while others buy for their collectibility. Either way, please be advised of the following:
IMPORTANT NOTICE FACTORS YOU MUST CONSIDER IN PURCHASING COINS
RISK: The purchase of coins is highly speculative and involves substantial risk. As in other markets, coin prices can be extremely volatile and will rise and fall depending upon market conditions. Therefore, before purchasing coins, you should first have adequate cash reserves and other assets to absorb a potentially significant loss.
HOLDING PERIOD: Historically, few coins have appreciated dramatically in the short term. Therefore, purchasers should recognize that it may well be necessary for them to hold coins for a 3 - 5 year period, or even a 5 - 10 year period, to have any chance of realizing a significant gain.
I thank you for stopping by and shopping in my little world on the internet superhighway!
