What is an animal rescue?

Hundreds of thousands of dogs, both pure-bred and mixed breed, are euthanized EVERY DAY in shelters across the United States. Rescue groups are formed by individuals who want to help rehome abandoned animals.

North East Rottweiler Rescue and Referral is an all-volunteer organization, established in 1998, dedicated to rescuing homeless Rottweilers and educating the public about the wonderful Rottie Breed. We also attempt to raise public awareness about responsible Rottweiler ownership.

The Rottweilers placed by North East Rottweiler Rescue have been fully temperament tested and have lived with a foster home in a family situation for a minimum of 2 weeks. Every dog in our program has been spayed or neutered, heartworm tested, vaccinated, and tattoed or microchipped. Thanks to generous donations, many have been treated for other serious health conditions.

To ensure that the dogs in our program will be treated properly for the rest of their lives, potential adopters go through a thorough application process.
