Hello; Greetings & Welcome; to NW Raku Gallery. We are 3 generations of award winning Registered Tslagyi Nvdagyi Cherokee Artists living in the Pacific Northwest Region of the U.S. We have blessings for the B.I.A. and every right to describe our work as Native American. Grand Father was born & raised in Bristol Tennesse and attended the Cherokee Indian School in Cherokee North Carolina until he joined the Military and served as an account for the Army through WWI and WWII. We Make everything you see. We do our own casting, mix our own glazes and fire our own kilns.
The Secret Ceramic Firing Technique that Transforms simple ceramic into
World Class Art
Now; Imagine bins of smouldering embers, a cloud of vaporous carbon. Men in protective gear plucking molten figures from a red hot kiln in the grip of iron tongs; then plunging them into rusting buckets. The Flames flair up; the lid goes on!
Later these figures emerge looking as if they had been dug up after centuries of burial, oils and tars etched into their surfaces. Yet after a good scrubbing the colors glisten, capturing the imagination of all. We enjoy many other highly Specialized Techniques such as China Painting & Dry Brushing & Italian HydroCal
