Hello!
My name is Celeste Flanagan and I love to sew and create things!!! I started sewing when I was about 6 years old when my two older sisters helped me make a red and white polka dot skirt. It was THE coolest thing in the world! The only problem was I made the skirt too short to wear! I was crushed, but my sewing spirit wasn’t! I went on to sew everything from clothes and swimming suits, to wedding dresses and tailoring men’s suits. I loved EVERYTHING about sewing. About 20 years ago I started out slowly making dolls and today you can find me sewing up a doll (or two or three) every day! I enjoy making primitive dolls so much! I've been selling my dolls on eBay for over a year under the name of Olde Rustic Prims, and that's been a great experience! I personally L-O-V-E the primitive dolls, and the grungier and uglier they are, the better! I really like to BUY primitive dolls, too. Even though I make dolls, I find I can't make them the way some artists can, so I BUY, BUY,
BUY!!!! My hubby is SOOOOO good about it!!! Our house is absolutely filled with dolls. It’s heaven!!! LOL
I just recently started creating homemade all-natural soap from scratch, and let me tell you how addicting THAT is!!! I've been having a blast creating everything from plain Ivory soap to Vanilla Calendula soap all the way to Chocolate Mint soap. (It's about all I can do NOT to take a bite out of that Chocolate Mint soap!) I'm so thrilled to be able to start doing this!
I've been married for 22 years to my husband, John. We have a 21-year-old son who's studying to be a youth minister and a 19-year-old daughter who's studying to be an elementary teacher---just like her mother. Yes, I ‘m a teacher also, and have been teaching for about 25 years. I started out teaching children with behavior disorders and LOVED that job. I did that for 18 years and decided it was time to move on and let the younger teachers deal with the behavior problems! I now teach regular 4th grade and absolutely love that job, too! It’s not uncommon for me to work a 12-hour teaching day and then sew dolls for 3-4 more hours afterwards. So what if supper isn’t made on time or the dishes haven’t been done in a couple of days? hehehe I’m so glad my hubby is so wonderful about late meals and dirty dishes! He understands my need to sew and create! I am truly blessed.
My family and I live smack dab in the middle of the country in a 100-year-old one-room schoolhouse that’s been added on to several times. It’s at least a twenty-minute trip anywhere we want to go, but living in the country has so many positives to it! It’s been a wonderful place to raise our children. I LOVE living in the country! I also love “collecting” gobs and gobs of animals (I have several!), growing flowers and plants, collecting dolls, and Longaberger baskets!!! Life is so good! Email me some time so we can "talk" about primitives!
~Blessings to you!~ Celeste
