Old And In The Way
I've had people ask what oldnndway meant.
It's just an abreviation for a bluegrass band (and song) that I like.
...but it's also an abreviaton for what I sell on eBay, stuff that is old, and in the way.
I turn it into stuff that is new and cherished just by a change of ownership.
I started selling on eBay with an old collection of silver age comic books that (somehow) I had been able to hang onto since I bought them new in the 60's. ( Thanks Mom ! )
Salable comics are not easy to find a dependable source for, so if I was going to continue selling on eBay I had to branch out into other areas. I was able to do this by turning to books.
There are just uncountable numbers of books lying around (unfortunately most of them are not being looked for by anyone)
After some trial and error I have been able to narrow my efforts down some so that now I don't bring home near as many of the ones that nobody wants.
One never knows what one can find unless they look and the oddest things turn up in the oddest places.
To quote Cadillac Jack from Larry McMurtry's book of the same name
"Anything can be anywhere"
...and often it is.
So I'll keep my eyes open and see what turns up and you come by from time to time and see what I have found ... it just might be what you have been searching for.
Thought I might throw a thing or two more in.
Packaging - I try and package everything I ship in the most stable manner I can come up with (and still keep it light enough to ship economically)
Generally I will sandwhich between two pieces of cardboard for rigidity then wrap with plastic cling wrap.
Seems to make a fairly solid block type package that keeps damage from occuring (or that is my hope) and so far no one has complained about receiving torn up books or magazines.
I often will simply slip this "block" into a large envelope and mail as this is lighter (and easier to come up with) than boxes (and cheaper to ship)
Add me to your favorite sellers list and watch for new listings.
I come across ALL kinds of books and magazines and I would hate for any of you to miss out on something you are looking for.
