So this is what we sell!
We stock quality, modern, reasonably priced eyeglasses. I source them from all over the world but please note all our advertised frames are already here in Australia so there is no delay in postage! We stock a range of men's, women's and children's frames made from titanium, acetate and metals including stainless steel.
Freight costs are a major consideration when buying from overseas so to keep our prices as low as possible we often buy frames but not the cases even when purchasing some of the major brands. So we use a Melbourne company as a great source for most of our cases. We also have the better known brands of frames occasionally, for example Fendi, French Connection, St Laurent, DKNY, Flexon even Christian Dior. These brand name spectacles obviously cost us more to buy and so this is reflected in the higher prices we have them listed for. Still we aim to keep our prices down to about 75-80% or more of the average Australian retail price for comparable frames.
You may have noticed Australian optometrists have a fairly restricted range of styles and colours of glasses for sale. This is mostly because they buy from just a few Australian wholesalers who, naturally, decide what they stock and who also set the prices. To maximise their profits they cater for bulk buying by optometrists and for the mass of consumers. Because we buy overseas, at better prices and in smaller quantities we can offer more varied frames that cater more particularly for the individual. That is why we may only have a single pair of some of our frames. So if you see something you like you had better grab it while you can!
How to access prescription lenses for your Face Furniture Frames
We can also help you to get prescription lenses online for your frames. These prescription lenses, like our frames, are significantly cheaper than those you would buy at an optometrists. However due to the difficulty in precisely fitting bifocals and multifocals we only offer single vision lenses, that is, reading OR distance lenses.
There are three main steps to having lenses fitted to your frames.
- Your prescription needs to be less than two years old. If not then you should have an eye examination done by your local optometrist. You will need to have your pupillary distance done at the same time (= PD) this is a physical characteristic peculiar to each person and is the distance between the pupils of each eye. This examination is bulk billed to Medicare and all current card holders are entitled to a free exam every two years. If you have had a recent eye exam then ask for your prescription from your optometrist. The prescription has been paid for by Medibank and is therefore your property and you are entitled to have it.
- When you have your prescription, you then have to decide which lenses you want and, of course, tell us whether you want near or distance glasses! Then either fax or email your prescription and your choice of lenses to us and we will do the rest. Please make sure that when you email your prescription you include all the detail the doctor has noted. Particularly, don't forget any plus or minus signs, and also your pupillary distance (PD).
- The additional amount due for the lenses will be added to the invoice for your frames and you may pay for them the same way, and at the same time, as you pay for your frames.
Choosing your lenses.
All our lenses come with a scratch resistant, anti-glare, and UV protective coating which is included in the price!
- Scratch resistance will help protect your glasses from the everyday wear and tear and small scratches resulting from this, but won't prevent deep scratches from spoiling the surface of the lenses.
- Anti-reflective (anti-glare) coatings improve light transmission through the lenses which provides clarity of vision. This is particularly helpful for better night vision especially when driving and is also a benefit in reducing glare for computer users.
- UV protection for our eyes is now recognised to be of just as much importance as UV protection for our skin. Lighter coloured eyes, like lighter skinned people, are more susceptible to damage by the sun's rays.
Standard single vision lenses start from as little as $55. If you have a stronger prescription and therefore need a higher index lens (in order to keep the lens as thin and therefore as light as possible) then the cost starts at about $149.
Rimless frames require a stronger, more flexible lens, that, plus the extra time and skill required to fit the lens to the frames means their costs start at about $185 for a standard prescription.
Transition lenses.
Transition, or as they are also known, photochromic lenses, darken when exposed to bright sunlight. They lighten again when the brightness is reduced. These lenses cost $175 for all styles of glasses except rimless which cost $249.
Tinted polarised lenses.
Any of the frames we sell can be also be used as sunglasses. The lenses we use are polarised for optimal comfort and come with UV protection. Tints are available in grey, brown or green. These lenses cost $140 for every style except rimless which cost $175.
Non-prescriptive lenses.
If you want to just wear the frames you purchase simply as a fashion accessory, or perhaps as an aid in reducing glare when using your computer then you can have non-prescriptive lenses fitted. These are called Plano lenses and they come with the same coatings as our prescriptive lenses. When you purchase frames they only have display lenses in them and these are not suitable to wear for any length of time. They are just a plastic lens and most times have some sort of screen printing on them anyway which can be difficult to remove. These plano lenses will cost $55 fitted.
Please note, because of our very small profit margin on lenses, we will only put lenses into the frames we actually sell.

Hi - I am the face behind Face Furniture Frames Online. My name is Shona Fenn and I am a 50 something stay at home mother. I have a 25 year old disabled son who lives at home with me and who is responsible for most of the pleasure I get out of life. And we both wear glasses!
We live in a picturesque small town in central, country Victoria, a southern Australian state. We have two dogs, a small garden and so far, after three years, we still have a business on eBay!
I started my online business in July 2005 when my son needed another pair of replacement glasses. We looked at frames in our local retail outlets and the prices were staggering even back then! For about 18 inches of wire they were charging about the same as for the cost of a mountain bike!
So I started searching. Firstly on eBay, then on the internet for somewhere to buy glasses. I wanted good quality, up to date frames at a reasonable price. And eventually I found them!
Now our business is three years old and I still enjoy every aspect of it (except perhaps the stocktake at tax time!!) We have some good, reliable suppliers who provide us with frames that we are proud to be able to offer at prices way below those of any Australian retail outlet. And we are now also able to provide prescription lenses for those frames. We are delighted to have quite a few repeat customers as well. And please note all our frames that we have advertised for sale on eBay are already here in Australia, no waiting for postage from overseas!

Claiming from your Private Health Fund provider.
When you pay for any of our items you will receive an email telling you we have received your payment. This email contains our ABN number, our address and a description of the frames and lenses, if applicable, you have bought. If you print out this email this is all the information needed to make a claim from your private health provider. We are registered with Medibank Private, HBA and NIB.
PLEASE NOTE some smaller health funds may also allow a claim if you present your invoice to them, for instance, Defence Health.
It may be that your refund will cover the full cost of frames and lenses bought from us instead of just a fraction of the costs you may have incurred elsewhere!
We aim to achieve 100% customer satisfaction!
This isn't just a catch cry! We really do want our customers to be happy with what they buy from us. This is the main reason we offer such an open refund policy. We accept returns on frames for ANY reason for up to 30 days after the finish of the auction. We will refund the full purchase price less postage. I don't know of any similar ebay seller offering the same. We have had a few returns for various reasons, the frames didn't suit, were too small, slightly different colour from the photos etc., about 4 or 5 to date - and we have resolved the problems to the customer's satisfaction in every case! So if you have a problem with anything you buy from us please allow us the opportunity to work with you to resolve the issue.
