OOFFY's Beehive
Who the heck is OOFFY?
Actually, Ooffy was the name of our first, and now departed ferret. He was also known as Ufi Ferret (on many a mailing list and as registered for conventions). Who are we? I'm actually Ron Bennett and had operated a small beekeeping supply business outside a very small college town in rural Oregon. I now manufacture a line of free flight model airplane kits know as the Satellites.What's a Luckiamute Bee? Who's this Team Satellite?
Luckiamute Bee is the name of our beekeeping business. Team Satellite is the name of our model airplane kit buisiness. So, you ask, why do you have all this high-end photo and motorcycle stuff? Actually, we are living the Yuppie dream. We had an advertising agency and commercial photo studio in Los Angeles, which we close about ten years ago and moved to a small farm outside of Monmouth, OR. In addition to flying model in contests, beekeeping and the beekeeping supply business, I spend the winter months manufacturing model kits, buying and selling photo gear and motorcycles parts. I specialize in large format cameras, Graflex XL and Bronica EC cameras, ATCs and Harleys, plus the occasional oddball items. I collect Sax Rhomer (Dr. Fu Manchu et.al.) books and Alladin kerosene lamps as well.If, for any reason, you have an interest in beekeeping (and this is from a guy that grew-up with an abject fear of anything that fly and buzzed), drop me a line or check out the link at the bottom of the page. We also have specialty honeys like Oregon Blackberry, Blueberry, Meadowfoam, Pumpkin, Vetch, Clover, Dandelion, Mint, and many more through the season.
As I mentioned, I build and fly model free flight airplanes. My areas of interest are AMA power Free Flight, F1C/F1J Free Flight, Nostalgia Free Flight, Control Line Pattern and Speed. I do have a bunch of R/C and collectable engines but that's more by accident than on purpose.
