Thank You for visiting my About Me page! I am Darroll Higginbotham aka orchid-guru  and have been in the foliage business as a grower and shipper of houseplants since 1977....28 years. I got into the Gift Plant business on a large scale in 1998 and now ship close to 20,000 individually packaged gifts all over the U.S. each year.
Here are a few highlights of my operation:
My nursery and plants are California Certified.
I direct-ship from our facility in East Central Florida to recipient.
I ship year round to all contiguous US destinations.
To keep shipping costs down I use U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail.
I have insulated shipping boxes, and am knowledgeable in heat pack use for cold protection.
I have a reputation for successful packaging and quality plants.
I can easily obtain and ship other plants you choose, even if it is a specialty item just for the season or holiday. This will require a lead-time and 10 or more plants.
My Philosophy
My nursery is a family owned operation and orchids have become my specialty. About 85% of the Gift Plants I ship are Orchids, but I sell many other tropicals as well. I recently opened my eBay Store as a way of offering my tropical plants and orchids at substanital savings from retail florists. Orchid plants make dramatic table centerpieces for any special event. They also are very elegant gifts for any special occasion and will leave a lasting impression. Orchids are easier to care for than people might think. They should have high to moderate sunlight, but not direct sun. They should be watered about every 7 to 10 days. It is OK to soak them, then drain thoroughly (never leave roots in standing water). Let the potting mix dry down before watering again. Fertilize with a half-teaspoon of Slow-Release fertilizer (like Scotts Osmocote).
