Welcome to the About Me page
for Out of the Bluegrass. Being born and raised here in Kentucky, I thought it would be nice for my eBay ID to say a little something about our beautiful Bluegrass state. My family and I live in Louisville, home of the world famous Kentucky Derby, with my little Sheltie, Murphy.
What I Collect and Sell
My hobbies include collecting
vintage 1950s - 60s Mar-crest ovenproof stoneware, cookie jars, Hull, McCoy, Makers Mark, Kentucky Wildcats and Kentucky Derby stoneware items.
Pictured below are some of my cookie jars. So many jars and not a cookie in the house. :-)
Mar-Crest daisy and dot dinnerware was produced by Western Stoneware (in Monmouth, Illinois) in the 50's and early 60's for the retail distributor Marshall Burns (Chicago).
My collection began about a decade ago, after spotting a Mar-crest cookie jar in an antique mall. It was identical to the jar that held mom's homemade cookies. Below are some of the jars from my Mar-crest collection:

My original online Marcrest presence was on the MSN discussion group I opened in late 2004. When it was picked up by Google, Yahoo, Ask and other search engines, the number of unique daily visitors prompted me to open the newer and much larger site, Mar-crest.com.
MSN Groups closed their doors in February 2009. It was then that I moved the Marcrest web/discussion group to Multiply.
I hope that you'll find both the web site and the new group to be helpful, and that you will bookmark and visit them often. Both also have Message Boards if you would like to ask questions or talk about Mar-crest with other collectors, buyers and sellers.
I buy and sell Mar-crest. If you're looking for a specific piece, feel free to send me a message and I can post a Buy It Now auction for the item if you'd like.
Daisy and dot style pitchers in pastel below. Experimentals? Repros? I'd love to hear more from others about these Marcrest similar pitchers.
