Tanning Stickers A GREAT way to moitor the progress of your tan is to use tanning stickers. Tanning stickers are placed on the skin before tanning starts. They act as a sun block, preventing the ultraviolet light from reaching the skin. They also prevent sunless tanning products from reaching the skin. Once the tanning session is over, the tanner removes the tanning sticker, seeing just how successful the tanning session has been. Many tanning salons offer free tanning stickers to their customers for just this purpose, and salon owners and staff have reported taht customers are often amazed at just how well the tanning beds and sunless taning booths have darkened thier skin.         Tanning stickers also serve another purpose. With the recent craze towards tattoos and body art, many people have added daring designs to thier skin. However, some people are leery about getting a permanent tattoo. Henna Tattoos are a popular alternative, but these fade adn can become unsightly before they disapper entirely. The effects of tanning bed stickers, on the other hand, last as long as your tan does. They simply leave a lighter patch of skin whereever you choose to place them. Tanning bed stickers come in a wide variety of styles and patterns. These can range from miniature, playboy bunny and a devil to short words or phrases. One popular choice is in the shape of a butterfly, while another is shaped like a heart. Palm trees, bunnies and the peace sign also rank among the most popular. Because they leave a lighter patch on your skin, these tattoos are highly visible. Just imagine the phrase "Too Hot" showing up on your shoulder in the black light of a club and you will see why these stickers are so popular.

3 Kinds of Tanning... After spending years and thousands of dollars in tanning salons, my husband and I purchased a tanning bed. Well, guess who is in the tanning bed twice as much as the person who should be? That would be me.   There are Three types of tanning. I will give you my view on all three of them.     OUTDOORS IN THE SUN   This method is not for the faint of heart. Free radicals, toxic breeze and ominous "hole in the ozone" are the watchwords of the outdoor tanner. Many outdoor tanners are unwilling participants, thrust into the sun through occupation or avocation. the guys I work with fall in this category. Farmer's tans abound. then, there are those of us who relish the feel of the real sun upon our skin.   The best way to tan outdoors is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. For me, this involved a well cushioned lounge deck chair, a cold drink, such as fresh brewed iced tea with lots of lemon and sugar and ice, and a portable CD player with appropriate music. some of my outdoor favorites: Chris Young, Jason Aldean, Sugar Land, or Trick pony if I am feeling Frisky!.   A nice fat issue of your favorite magazine helps. Vanity Fair and Food & wine are favorite tanning reading aids. Lurid true crime books are also fun.   My all time favorite outdoor tanning lotion is Australian Gold Iced Creme. The smell is just wonderful. I have lately been using the Physic By Zeda and provides just a bit of shimmer upon application. It also gives you a fabulous tan while moisturizing your skin.   The ultimate best way to tan outdoors is to send the kids somewhere with Gran for the day and invite a sun-worshipping friend over and ditch the iced tea for some Hard Mikes Lemon-Aid while gossiping like crazy.     IN THE TANNING BED   I use the tanning bed about three times a week in the winter. It is very drying to my skin, no matter how much lotion I use and how careful I am with my skin. MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!!! Moist skin tans best. Use a body defoliator at least once a week. Always put on lotion after a bath or shower. If you take baths, don't get the water too hot and soak, no matter how good it feels. Terribly drying.   The tanning bed is a highly concentrated version of a sun tan. The rays are very intense; which enables you to get a tan in a short period of tme. If you don't use the right lotions, you could damage your skin.   Everyone who uses a tanning bed knows that it is not good for your skin. The sun has the ability to damage your skin if you are exposed unprotected. The tanning bed is a more intese version of the sun (although many of the harmful rays have been eliminated). To achieve the best tan possible in a bed, use products wisely. General tips:   Tan an hour before or two hours after bathing. Your skin continues to tan outside the bed buy if you shower or take a bath, it stops.   Apply slightly more tanning lotion than you would moisturizer. when rubbing it in, use up and down then back and forth motions so it is distributed evenly. If you are using a lotion with a bronzer in it, take a baby wipe into the bed with you and rub vigorously between your fingers so you do not have stains. Use bronzer very lightly on knees and your face. Stripes are not a good thing.   Alternate lotions every time. I don't know why this works but it does.     THE TAN IN A BOTTLE   With sunless tanning, its all in the application, so be prudent and careful. The best method is to execute your sunless tanning when it is feasible to lock yourself naked in the bathroom for 20 minutes. Put on the lotion and read a magazine or admire your eyebrows for awhile. Only when the lotion is completely dry and you can no longer feel it on your skin should you dress, unless you like orange edges on your clothes. Wash your hands after like you are going to do surgery. Especially between the fingers.   Okay, I am every dermatologist and plastic surgeon's nightmare.
