Hi! Thanks for checking my "About Me" page on eBay. I've been turning miniatures and other things on my lathes since 1982. I use a wide variety of materials to create my minis: exotic and native woods, tropical nuts, stone, antler and man-made materials. I strive to offer a variety of miniatures on eBay in 1/4", 1/2" and 1" scale. When you purchase a miniature from me, you will receive a premium miniature of the highest quality. Guaranteed!
Some notes about my miniature auctions:
-All of my vases have a hole that has been drilled into it so you can use it for your flowers. In many cases, I take the time to completely hollow the interior of the vase out. That means that I use a special tool that shaves away the interior walls of the vase, leaving behind thin, stable walls. If the vase has been hollowed out, I do note this in the auction description.
-All of my minis are measured with a very accurate dial calipers. I always list the size rounded to the nearest 16th of an inch, but also note the actual size which is to the nearest 1000th of an inch. I also note the size in millimeters, for you metric folks out there! This way you can be sure that the mini you buy from me will work for your particular setting.
A note about the materials I use:
Aside from the Box Elder Burl, Dymondwood and some other burls that I have, it's been more than 5 years since I've purchased any exotic woods. Most of my exotic woods (ebony, cocobolo, rosewood, pink ivory, etc...) come from my stock which I have had in my possession since the early 1980s. The wood I bought back then mostly came from a pool cue manufacturer; it was from his "scrap pile". But, it works great for miniatures! It is very important to me to have as little impact on our environment and wildlife habitats as possible, and by using scraps as much as I can...scraps that would otherwise be thrown away...I feel I'm maybe helping out a bit in that regard. If you ever have a question as to the origin of the wood, ivory, antler, or any other material I use for a particular miniature, please email me and I'll let you know exactly where I obtained the material from.
