Hi!  I am pahdah_hound, otherwise known as Jesse Kamien, seller of vintage and antique violins.  Thanks to eBay, I can indulge in my hobby of buying, collecting and selling old violins.  I find them at estate sales, from collectors and dealers, and at instrument auctions like Skinner and Tarisio.  I love old violins and also the people who can make them sing.  I have met many friends through eBay and have friends all over the world who have bought or sold me violins.

I have a couple of great luthiers, here in New Hampshire.  They check out all the violins I buy.  They fix cracks, polish them up, fits new pegs, bridge, soundpost, and makes them ready to play after years of sleeping in a closet.  Sometimes I get a call in the middle of the night test playing one that has that rare "old world tone" and exceeds our expectations. 

I have met a number of professionals from the Boston classical music scene, who are generous enough to test an occasional violin that has unusual promise.  Often a special violin gets auditioned in one of Boston's large concert halls.  When it is really great, I can then accurately describe it as a "soloist" quality violin.

Some people have asked me what my nickname, pahdah_hound refers to.  It is a name that was given me by friends during my snow ski bumming days 25 years ago.I had the need for the soft stuff on a regular basis.  Pahdah is the New England pronounciation of "powder".
