Painting and Beyond, all about my crazy life!
Hi to all of you out there, my new friends and my old friends. I thought that it might be time to take the beach pictures off, since it's almost time to go again. :)) We have almost made it through winter and getting ready for spring. We haven't had much snow here this year, but it has been cold and windy! For those of you who haven't seen it yet, I have opened the store, something that I have wanted to do for a long time now. I finally took the plunge, with a little prodding from a couple of my friends that I met through Ebay, you know who you are, thanks for the advice and the whip cracking! I am happy that I can finally show all of you more of what I love to do. I still watch kids all day, sometimes 7 days a week, that would be why I don't get as much painting done as I would like! The full time little one is 2, he is my grandson, and we know what 2 year olds are like. The other 2 grandsons are 6 and 7, they are a handful. I am still working at Bass Pro Shops once or twice a week depending on the season and what is going on there. In my "spare" time (what is that?) I like to go rummaging for new things to paint, spend time with my flowers, watch the birds, I am an avid bird watcher and feeder, and when I can, read and dream up new stuff to paint.
Oh, forgot to mention that alot of the spare time goes to 3 daughters, and 7 grandchildren, no I am not as old as you think either! I have 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. I have pet kitties and a house in the woods that takes up alot of my time too, especially in the summer. I never get bored, just really busy!
I am sure that you have noticed that most of the surfaces that I paint on are used or old. There is a reason for that, actually a few reasons. First, I have a passion for unusual things and the challenge of what I can do to them to make them pretty again. Second, it saves you and me money. New items are costly, too over produced and common, that in the long run, does not make a unique item and drives the final price up, in this economy, we don't need higher prices. I like to find the things that are going to the trash, or something that I remember from my childhood and give it some new life. Call me the junk queen if you must, but I enjoy it. I guess that you have also noticed that I have a thing with snowmen and gingerbread. Renee Mullins is my favorite for the snowmen, that I am sure that you have noticed too. Her snowmen have that wonderful, whimisical look about them and I like the detail that goes into them. I love cats, so I will be including some cat items too as well as prim saltbox and some fall items also. You never know what I might be in the mood for next, my moods drive my painting and I paint best like that, so snowmen in the summer wouldn't be surprising for me! I have added a few pictures from Christmas of my large tree that we stuff in every year, have to have the biggest that I can find.
Enjoy my store, and always feel free to contact me with any ideas, comments or questions, I am just an email away!! God bless you all, and thanks for taking the time to read about me.
