About the Artist:
Notes From the Studio.... Three years of Art Helping Animals.
Thanks so much for your purchase and support of my work. I have made steady monthly donations to rescues and shelters with a donation from every painting or print sold. Knowing that we are helping give another chance at life to a homeless animal makes the work that much more heart felt and precious. It becomes "living art" and much more than itself.
2009 ... Another year of painting to assist homeless animals and making my art work useful to those pets waiting for forever homes remains my goal by painting new original work on an on-going basis. I continue to paint daily, list on my blog "First Look", the Art Helping Animals blog, and post new work on Daily Painters Gallery on Thursdays & Saturdays and hold a membership in several other venues including Artist's - Collective, Canine Art Guild, The Greater Fall River Art Association, and 1000Markets.com.

"FIRST LOOK!" CAROL CHRETIEN - A Spot 4 Art
*** I am an oil painter who loves all genre and has a special affinity with animal art. Being able to paint to help homeless animals is my dream come true. I work at painting and the business of painting every day. All my energy goes into "how can I help?" and the message, "that I have found my purpose in this passion," is clearly told in the work on my canvas. Every piece of art I create has a portion donated to animals in rescue no matter the subject of the painting. As a founding member artist of Art Helping Animals, it is an honor to be part of this fellowship of artists with the same, clear focus of making a difference with art. Bio: I was instructed in the fundamentals of oil painting by the artist the late John Coldwell. Mr. Coldwell taught me how to "see" the subjects of my interest. It was his most valuable teaching for me. I have been a student of the medium all my life and find that it will forever have something to teach. The work of the American Realists was always my biggest influence while studying art. My work has been collected around the globe, published, exhibited, juried and awarded and I have been interviewed for articles about my art in several publications. The full biography can be found on my web site. www.carolchretien.com
Several years ago I began painting oil portraits of my Dalmatian, Lizzie. She is such a fantastic model she was hard to resist.
(The painting shown here of Lizzie was her first portrait.)
I paint everyday. I am a serious artist continually exploring ways to express my vision in oil paint about my world and my loves. The work is always evolving and new areas of interest show up in new paintings on the easel. There are usually 5 or more paintings in various stages on my easel, all the time.
I'm happy to say that my work is found in collections around the globe. THANKS to all who have supported this work.
Over the last few years I have donated paintings or commissions for pet portraits and Limited Edition Prints of my oils to assist fundraising for rescues such as Save the Dalmatians in CA, Animal Advocates Dartmouth MA, BONES Beagle rescue, DARE dachshund rescue, International Animal Rescue, BEST FRIENDS SOCIETY... and I am honored to be a founding member artist and in fellowship helping animal charities, rescue, adoption and support through ART HELPING ANIMALS. ArtHelpingAnimals.com supports a variety of rescues and sanctuaries across the country!

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO AS ARTISTS HELPING ANIMALS:
A horrific number of animals are abandoned or euthanized yearly when a little initial help could have saved a life.
Art communicates with us at a deep level and is a wonderful way to build your own art collection, honor a pet, give a gift to a fellow art and pet lover all while helping to lift up these wonderful animals and perhaps save many lives through your generosity.
How you can help has endless variations, volunteer time and love, adopt a pet, adopt a favorite charity, bid on a charity auction item, spread the word, shop early for holiday gifts, find a special gift for those "people who have everything" while helping to save a life!
My THANKS for your interest:
to all those who have collected and supported my animal charity artwork please know that it directly impacts on these rescues and the help they give to homeless animals who might otherwise never get a second chance. My most sincere gratitude.
Together, we are THEIR voices!

I would like to also invite you to view the website of
Michael Troy.
This musician is an incredible story-teller. He paints amazing scenes with his words and I find inspiration listening to his music while I paint. Incredible talent.
His 2 CDS are almost worn out on my player.
Thanks, Michael (link found below in my favorites!)
