What I am first. I am a retired Postmaster. I worked for the Postal Service for over 33 years, now my 'job' is eBay. My hobby is raising and showing Schipperke dogs and Belgian Tervuren. EBay fit right in my life. I have always loved to go to garage and estate sales and especially auctions. Everyone loves a bargain and I'm no exception. The only problem was what to do with the good stuff I brought home. EBay has solved that. I love the idea that a collector somewhere may buy and enjoy the treasures I bring home. Plus, the income is very welcome! Retirement income doesn't stretch as far as it used to. My pet peeves for eBay auctions are overcharging on shipping. I don't mind a small handling charge if people feel they have to charge it, but some people seem to feel they have to make their profit on the shipping charges. My policy from my first sale has been to charge actual shipping, no extra for packaging or handling. I scrounge boxes everywhere, use the USPS free priority boxes and a friend saves packing peanuts for me. My only expenses are for bubble wrap and tape. I refuse to buy from a site that overcharges on shipping and I have been known to send them an email telling them they should not overcharge on shipping. I've gotten some nice replies, and many pretty nasty ones too. I love eBay and plan on many more happy hours putting up auctions and waiting for the thrill of the first bid!
