The Littlest Customer

I adopted my first greyhound in 2005. She was a fawn female just about to turn 10 years old. It was love at first sight for the both of us. Since the day I brought her home my life has not been the same. She has brought so much joy into my life that I have since then adopted 3 more and will forever be a greyhound owner. Or should I say, will be forever owned by a greyhound!

Due to the joys greyhounds have brought into my own life, I began volunteering with a local greyhound adoption group so that I may help others find these national treasures. The group I joined is the most wonderful. The people are greyt and really work hard on making sure these precious greyhounds are healthy and happy. I am very honored to be a part of Greyhound Pets, Inc.

My First Greyhound

When I got my first girl, I wanted to dress her up in the prettiest fashions I could. With martingale collars running around $30 for a really nice one, I set out to make my own. Several friends and family members began buying collars from me for their own little dogs and before I knew it Derby's Place was up and running. So you see, it was purely an accident that I started selling those special collars.

I do enjoy making them up for my customers as I get alot of pictures back of their dogs in their new collars. It is always a joy to see a happy dog styling a Derby's Place collar. You can see one of my "little" customers enjoying his pretty blue collar. Isnt he the cutest!

Of course you can also see my very happy and spoiled greyhounds sporting thier collars. Although they each have a new one on at least once a month! I think they enjoy having new collars. Whenever I put a newly made collar on any one of my dogs, they seem to hold their head a little higher and smile a little bigger. They are just like us and enjoy looking nice too. The holidays (particularly Christmas) are my favorite times of year for making collars. I just love all those holiday fabrics. I think I have picked up a fabric addiction since I started making collars. Good thing I quilt too!
