Fun Flowers, Picadoos and Creepy Crawlers
|
Hello Creepy Crawler Fans,
My favorite toy as a child in the 60’s, was the Thingmaker toys by Mattel. I had the Creepy Crawlers, then the Fun Flowers, and finally the Picadoos. In the mid 80’s, I was going through a healing phase of my life, and I wanted to refocus my mind concerning my childhood memories. I decided it would help my healing process to go back and relive some of the positive things. So, what better way, than to get out the Thingmaker toys that luckily my Mom had saved for me in our basement for all these years. I had the original boxes, instructions, molds, etc, but what about goop? It was nowhere to be found.
I was fortunate enough to find an antique/collectible dealer in a toy magazine that sold me all the other mold pack sets that I didn’t have as a child. What a dream come true! But then was the problem of finding some goop. With some investigating, I was lucky enough to find a source of goop, but I had to mix my own colors. It just happened to be the same company that sold to Mattel in the 60’s. Sound too good to be true? I thought so, too, at the time!!! News of this discovery spread by way of the antique toy dealer. I used to spontaneously get a check in the mail usually from New York. It was someone wanting a set of goop colors! For a country girl from Kansas, I thought this was really something. People actually paid me to mix goop. This has always inspired me to someday try to market the goop and have it available to the general public.
Then, four years ago, I was able to take an early retirement, thanks to my husband. So, I could finally focus on living my dream. After about a year or two of working on color formulas, marketing, designing the label, writing instruction sheets, etc, I started to sell PATTI-GOOP on eBay. That was over 2 years ago. I have received countless emails from my wonderful customers about how I helped them relive some of their favorite childhood memories by baking PATTI-GOOP and sniffing the reminiscent smell. Also, many of my customers are sharing the experience of these incredible vintage toys with their children and grandchildren. Now I firmly believe that is was not a coincidence that I found that original manufacturer, it was meant to be, for a lot of reasons.
I want to thank all of my customers for making PATTI-GOOP a success!
Thank You for your interest,
Patty
